I downloaded the newest client, and tried to install it... IT WON'T WRITE TO THE EXECUTABLE TO UPDATE! Anyone else having this issue? Just one more thing, for the game that's supposed to be my stress relief, to bring me stress! Are you sure you're stress testing the system on the 24th and not the residents????? (sorry to post this twice... it was originally a reply to the downtime posting)

From the wiki:
Question: Second Life says it needs to update, but when I launch the auto-update utility, it doesn't work. Answer: Firewalls, or internet security or firewall software, frequently block the autoupdate utility from downloading the newest version of Second Life. Antivirus software may also prevent the updater from installing the new Second Life executable. You can always download the latest version of Second Life at http://secondlife.com/download |

From the wiki: I did that too. I ended up having to reinstall the game and reboot twice before it would work. |

This happened to me on the update before last.. it was because sl was still running. Even though it quit, it was still in the task list. I terminated it in task manager and that fixed it. Rebooting would also fix it.
