Second Life on Windows Vista?

Hi,

I'm currently messing around with a Windows Vista beta.
I tried to get Second Life to run there, and it installed nicely. But...
I get an error that my graphics card is not AGP (which it isnt, PCI-express)

I get the choice to ignore that though.. and i choose to do so.. i thought.
Immediatly there's an other error on the graphics card, and it quits.

Now i can understand if its simply not working under Vista, and if it doesnt, I
wont put any more time in it. If others did get it to work, i'm interested in
ideas on how to get it to work, and am willing to put some effort into it.

Hi Amber--I haven't tried this myself. Moved it to Technical Issues to see if anyone else has experiences.

Also make sure you have the latest video card drivers for Vista

Last I heard, even Vista didn't run properly on Vista... yet...

It's a beta (actually, since M$ aren't already charging for it, it's probably an alpha) version... Don't expect too much. That it works at all should be seen as no small miracle.

Actually, vista runs rather smooth.. so i havent gotten my SB X-Fi to work yet, and the official ATI drivers didnt install. (yes, there lies probably the reason) but it came with MS drivers for the ATI PCI-E X1600.. so i had hopes.

gonna mess around and see if i can find out why the drivers didnt run. In the other thread i saw that people HAD managed to run it under vista, although very crappy.

And brave? it's a dual boot. the only thing i'm waisting if i fail is time

We are looking at 0ct nov releases of the first stages of vista os. Already Graphic Card companies are having their newer CG Vista friendly

Woohoo! i did it!
it runs! and more importantly, it runs smoothly.

just for the record, i'm using build 5365, from 4-19-06.

If your video card drivers dont install, just install the ones from XP. Works flawlesly now.

i installed the windows xp 64 bit drivers for my ati card and suddenly it went perfectly.. even my dual screen setup works again (which it didnt with the native drivers)

now on to get my soundcard working.. gonna try the same trick ^_^

vista beta 2 does not work at all really without lindens help even with modprobe still says invailed hardware crap

vista isn't in the supported os list (yet) please upgrade to windows XP

upgrade lmao please shh I do not want to downgrade I even installed vista on my laptop.

This is what you get for running a BETA OS, and being an unpaid tester for Micro$oft.

wtf unpaid? we get play with the latest os and its free till june 2007 and works better then xp..

wish you assholes would stop spamming and let us people who use and want get sl working with vista alone.
