Getting unusually low FPS on my machine and someone told me about CTRL-SHIFT-9 ... so I did this and I have huge amounts of time spent Image CreateGL and Image Decode. Why would this be? It doesn't seem to be normal... any clues?

Hmmm, I'm no expert but it looks like you are in a very heavily built up sim and the createGL indicator shows a lot of stuff being generated. With my machine, the CreateGL and Image Decode indicators initially show long but as I stay in one spot the lines grow shorter almost to the point of dissapearing. They stay that way until I change my view. My guess would be they indicate downloading of prims and textures to make up the frame's view.

I would look for an empty sim and see what your framerates do.

Well I had been standing in that spot for about 10 minutes when I took the snapshot... but frame rates are good in other areas. I have another computer and in the same spot I don't get that behavior.... and the other computer is slower. :/

Slower rated CPU speed can actually be faster than what you think. I have an 1800+ AMD that smokes my 2600 P4 on just about everything. Can you post your computer's specs perhaps?

3.4ghz P4 Geforce 6800 1GB RAM

It runs very smooth when I am not getting those Image CreateGL and Image Decode spikes. Even between the spikes it is very smooth. But when it spikes SL stops for about a second (or it seems like it anyway).
