I've recently began having issues trying to login into SL. It's weird because I made no changes for it to happen, just all the sudden I crash and when try to log back in, no luck. 2 days now no SL. It's a bit irritating because just a bit a ago I tried to login on the computer next to me on the SAME network. No issues.
I have a Nvidia GeForce 7300LE graphics card, Intel Duo processor 3.00 Ghz, 1GB Ram.
I have no viruses... that I'm aware of. I've switch ethernet cords thinking its my connection, however I can do anything else using the internet no problems. I have a Netgear cable modem/router, and a Dlink switcher.
I've tried reseting routers and switchers... restarting, hard reboots...
I've recently learned that SL doesn't perform well with Dual core processors... so I did what SL says to do and that didn't really help much.
I've done almost anything that I've thought of. If you have any ideas, please share them with me.
Thanks! Rosalani Hitendra

Your failure to log in description is pretty vague, but hopefully you are running Windows. If this is the case, I suggest to do a System Restore from a point that you were not having this issue. Drivers can become corrupt, and it could be just about anything. This is a simple solution, probably the first thing to try before you pull out your hair.

Thanks! Rosalani Hitendra I don't know where you heard that. I'm running an Intel P4 dual core 3.0 gig processor and have never had problems in SL due to that issue. Maybe you are thinking of any multicore processor and setting affinity to a single core to improve SL's performance? That seems to work for some but I've tried it numerous times and only managed a percent or two of procesing speed to the better, if any increase at all. I personally think it's a huge waste of time since you must set affinity each and every time you log into SL. To your problems you are experiencing. If you simply cannot log in at all you being having driver issues........graphics drivers being the most suspect, Try updating your card from nVidia. Anti virus programs can be a pain with SL (Norton, in my opinion, is really bad about it). You might check out some free AV programs like Grissoft AVG (the one I use with absolutely no problems)..........I would never recommend anyone connect to the internet without an anti virus program running in the background. If you do decide to try another AV to see just make sure you disable the one you are using.........two running anti virus programs with almost definitely crash your computer. Another thing to check is running background programs.........you could have some scheduled task running which would likely cause problems. Or you can have some spyware program "calling home" that you are not aware of. If you can log in but crash shortly afterwards your antivirus is probably not to blame (same for your firewall). Again, the graphics card is a big suspect as are background programs running. I'm sure you have checked your router and modem........but have you bypassed the router? I've had issues that are related to my router when all the simple checks seemed to say nothing was wrong........but bypassing it all together would give a more certain answer for you. But, I'm also wondering what you mean by problems. The last couple weeks LL has had a number for problems on their end which really confuse the issues if you are also experiencing the problems. Though LL is not really on the ball about telling us that the grid or regions are having problems, they do eventually get around to blogging it. Check there to see if maybe what you are experiencing is on LL's end and not yours.

Check there to see if maybe what you are experiencing is on LL's end and not yours. Well about the dual core processor thing, I got that from SL knowledge base or whatever. My graphics' card is updated to the recent driver. I may take your idea about restore point, I use both a version of Norton my college gave me to use (so it kicks ass) and AVG . I do not run them at the same time either. I will try to connect without running them though. It just doesn't make sense that all of the sudden it wont connect. Like my problems, I connect... usually when I'll have a successful connection I hear a "dink.... dink" and then it will load right then I can move and so on. But for the best 2-3 days, I get lucky to have one "dink" and then when passed the loading screen everything is all gray, Im crouched over... and so on. That's all I get, every SINGLE time. But the one time I log in on my Bf's computer. Bam, Im on. Although, I rarely get to a point for crash reports. It's mainly just logging, oh I can't do shit, and then log out to log back in. But it's consistant, I have yet to login ONCE. The router is fine. Though not the brand I would choose. =( The switcher is D-link, it's for the basement. We only have one humongous Ethernet cord to reach down here. But with everything I tried... seems the problem is with my computer. I've ran virus scans, went through my registry even. I understand that LL has been having issues. I'm well aware of them. =\ I do have lots of issues trying to login sometimes, but it's because of LL most of the time. I can somewhat tell a difference between the two. I really think it is mainly to do with my computer. I will try the things you recommended. Hopefully this works. And thank you.
