When I sign into SL, after about 2 minutes it freezes and then I'll hear a loud beep and then the screen resolution gets all screwy. This message pops up when it freezes: "The ialmrnt5 display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to microsoft."
So then I restart my computer and the screen is back to normal. How the heck can I fix this so that I can stay on SL for longer than 5 minutes?
I'm not the best with computers and I would really really appreciate any suggestions.
THANKS! -Moonlit Harbour

http://www.eddieoneverything.com/windows-xp/how-to-fix-the-ialmrnt5-display-driver-error.phpi found this, looks like it may be an intel driver issue. not sure if its the same issue with vista

Mine has been doing this for the past like 5 months and has only been getting worse. Now my sound is constantly fuzzy in addition. I crash at least 10 times everyday if not more. It's ridiculous but I've come to get used to it unfortunately. I've been searching for a cure but I could never find anything. I planned on getting a new computer but i have 5 computers in my house and 2 of the 5 have this problem. So I think SL is screwing up our damn computers.

I'm still having that same problem.. in my event viewer there are no error messages.. just a total lockup/down, with only option to reboot.
I have found that if i sign in using windlight.. at times it will let me stay for half hr then yup, im locked up again.
Seems there are no answers to this problem. Many of my friends have the same issue and SL doesn't really care.
Can't wait for "google's " version of SL to come out..
At this rate.. not much point in even attempting SL .. last night, i got the freeze after 15 seconds in the game.. over and over till i gave up.
If you find an answer post it please for the rest that have that problem.

are you accessing through a router?
After much experimenting, I discovered that if I enter SL thorugh my cable modem, I can get on with no freezes or crashes. If I go thorugh the router it freezes and crashes. (a linksys). If I disable the router firewall (risky) then I can get on with no problems.)
