I have a Macbook Pro which refuses to connect to SL. Two other machines (both PCs) on the same network login fine but the Mac allways comes out with a DNS error. I have used the very same machine to login on the network at work and even in a local Internet Cafe.

I have had this problem before and resolved it by inputting DNS addresses directly into the network properties. Can't find the addresses anymore on the forums and the ones I can find don't work. Also this does not strike me as the most sensible of solutions.

Anyone know why this one machine will no longer connect within the network?

I have no firewall issue with the machine as it has logged in elsewhere. As far as I can tell the router is not blocking anything as other machines can connect.

I have seen that other people have had similar issues over the years but no-one seems to have a singular solution.

I tried a solution in terminal that was posted on the forums and that just killed the machine requiring me to use the OS disk to fix it.

Try an other DNS server. I had the same problem. I use now: 1e 208.67.222.222 and 2e 208.67.220.220 This one is faster and generates no time outs to me any more.
