For some reason it will not allow me to sign into secondlife. It verifies protocol versions and then it tells me that secondlife is down and to please give it a few minutes. i have reloaded SL onto my computer and tried restarting it twice. What else can I do???

I was just in and SL is up and it was running ok. Might try rebooting your router and modem, this happens to me at times. Rebooting the router and modem usually cures it. Best way to do it is turn everything off, computer, modem and router and let them set for 10 minutes. Then bring them up in order, the modem first, wait until it has a full connection then power up the router (if you have one) then once it is fully on, boot the computer. I have to do this sometimes after my ISP renews my account around midnight because it confuses the IP address or something.

Hmm, that's odd. Could your ISP be blocking it? You aren't in China are you? You haven't done anything to be banned fromn SL ? You have been on the game before right and it just quit working? You may have to call the support number and see if they can better determine what is going on. Sometimes ISPs get blocked due to hacking, griefing or what have you.
Try http://performance.toast.net/ and see what speeds you are getting. Take a look here, it may well be a firewall or other network problem: http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=TechVerifyingProtocol _____________________

edit the SL icon and add -port 1300 (or another number) to the end of
C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe on one of the computers, its worth a shot |
