Bought one tonight and apparently it is unsupported. I cannot login at all. I get a message that SecondLife cannot continue - that the video drivers (that are current and I'd been using as late as last night) are out of date or not supported. This really stinks. Anyone got this model to work in here ?

System Specs - Running XP Home with SP2

-AMD Athlon64 FX-60
-ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe
-2 x 1GB CORSAIR XMS
-2 x eVGA 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 in SLI
-22" Samsung SyncMaster 226BW 2ms 3000:1
-2 x Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB SATA 3.0Gb/s in Raid0
-2 x Maxtor 200GB Ultra ATA/133 Hard Drive
-Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply

Any and all help is appreciated.

Why would a monitor have anything at all to do with whether or not SL (or any software program for that matter) will run? A monitor is just a device to see the results of what everything else in the computer is doing or accomplishing..........it's not even required for a program to run (but you won't be able to tell it's running :) ).

I don't think it's your monitor.........it's something else. Drivers for you graphics card is the most likely suspect.

Hey, i checked some sources for this problem, and it seems like that ur graphic card have some conflicts with slclient, maybe this is an old news, you can try installed the lastest driver updates as possible.

Ummm... this is the SAME system, EXCEPT for the monitor, that I have used for months in SL. I cannot get drivers any newer - these are the latest from nVidia.

I had to install new drivers for the monitor and this is digital - not analog - so I am sure that there is a conflict with the monitor - not hardware I've been using for months now.

Has anyone got one of these monitors working here ?

Whatever ur monitor is digital or analog, montior type won't effect ur slclient, just take a look at the below threads:
http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=002
http://secondlife.com/corporate/sysreqs.php

Maybe u can try other video card with a testing purpose. btw, u can try to find the underlying problem with a specific tool(on windows), or try installing linux operating system with a mutliple boot(this will easy to find the problem under the linux operating system). then post the error information here. that's would be very helpful.

I'm using a digital monitor............and I got it after I had SL. I had to install new drivers for the monitor. Not the graphics card though I suppose the monitor driver disc also had drivers for the video card too. And just because the monitor is new and the driver disc is new it doesn't mean the drivers are up to date.......they could be a year or more old. But, I've found I have quite a few problems with new graphics card drivers unless I unistall the old ones first..........before I even attempt to install any new ones. Try uninstalling all your video drivers before reinstalling the new updated ones. That has worked for me quite well.

Monitor is not likely to be an issue. I've been running with a 22" Samsung SyncMaster 225BW for months with no problems. I've even upgraded video cards without a problem. I've used the DVI connection the whole time without a problem.

Monitors don't NEED drivers! I suspect whatever was in your 'driver' package that you installed buggered your video drivers. Uninstall your monitor software and reinstall the latest video driver download from nVidia.

Physically changing a monitor has absolutely no effect on how a system will perfom, it is just a tool for viewing the output of the video card. What the issue here is software/drivers.

Discs that come with Monitors are for loading the instructions (pointless excerise if its the only monitor/pc you have and you need to know stuff first) sometimes a windows friendly OSD programme and maybe a file for matching printers/programmes with the monitor. Monitors do not use drivers in any shape or form, unless its a touch screen.
Occasionally they install the latest DirectX... usually version 5 or less LOL... useful as a handbrake in a canoe.. which may have overwritten the version 9 you have installed. Early DirectX installation programmes weren't smart enough to figure that there might be a version number HIGHER than the one on the disc.

Going on 4 weeks since posting this - and I haven't gotten anything to help resolve this problem. I have uninstalled drivers, reinstalled drivers. I have tried older drivers to beta drivers. I have uninstalled SL (even deleting the directory), reinstalled SL. I've cleaned the registry out. I've Updated to network framework 3.0. I've jumped thru every hoop anyone has suggested. Nothing works. Nothing.

So, I am about 1/2 a year thru a year membership for a game that won't play on a system that far exceeds the requirements needed to play it - and I'm hung up on the game not recognizing my drivers as being current. Pitiful. Email support with SL is a nightmare. I got a response after 3 weeks saying that they didn't recognize my email address. I gave them my account email address and described my problem again -just to see how long it takes them to get back to me. This ought to be interesting.

Try making sure your refresh rates and resolution settings for both your monitor and GC are compatible with SL. It is true, Monitors do not need drivers either in SL or Windows.
It is likely that the 'drivers' installed by the monitor's disc set, are for maybe pivoting, zoom, OSD, colour matching profiles or alignment functions. Without stating the obvious, you are using the DVI connection/cable between the GC and monitor and not maybe a analogue to DVI converter?

The whole thing could be a ruse/bug, try turning off 'check hardware at startup' functions in SL preferences, see if that helps.

- video drivers are out of date -

Is just SL being annoying, its doesnt matter what version you use usually caused by having old drivers and installing new without uninstalling , you dont use some "enchanced" (spelling-.-) drivers on that vid card by any chance cause that was my cause SL gave me that error.

Better off just reinstalling the entire thing /format /reinstall windows, update drivers, do not use any monitor/drivers to vid card except the actual drivers from www.nvidia.com, they arent needed if they are its usually fan controll/temp reading and that caused mine to freak out SL ~ "out of date drivers".

That would take less then a day to fix , to figure out why its doing it take to long then its worth.

Gotten this error twice

first was asus enchanced drivers that made SL go "out of date drivers",

second was newest drivers fault "out of date drivers -.- , went back one version i could log in, been awhile since i gotten it now tho,

Currently using the nvidia drivers
xp pro / v93.71 on 7900,
vista / v158.18 on the 8800

I had some problems when I first installed my Syncmaster, 2 SILLY things are what made it work for me. SL has always had a problem with the clock on peoples computers, even though mine was right, I set it forward a few minutes, closed it, then set it back to the right time and that allowed me into SL. Another thing I had to do was go into the Nvidia control panel, and run the display optimization wizard, and make sure you do it just as it asks, your system needs to have been on for at least 20 minutes prior to doing this, they suggest at least an hour.

And you are right about installing the drivers, these monitors do come with drivers, Im not sure why some of these people are saying no monitors have drivers, Im no computer god or anything, but I know the installation disc says it has drivers on it, and these are HD monitors. Maybe they have not used a high definition flat panel monitor before, dunno, but I hope what helped me helps you.

The 'drivers' some refer to are no more than 'inf' files. These tell the system the capabilities/restrictions of the monitor to the OS. 'Drivers' are only required for monitors that have features like pivot, OSD etc. You can run windows and supported programmes off the the most basic Microsoft 'driver'. The inf files list the modes that monitor is capable of using.

Resolved...

I decided to combine every suggestion at once to see what happened-------------

Used a driver cleaner to remove the drivers. I removed every type of nVidia driver I had - even the network bus drivers and raid drivers.

==Rebooted.

Used a registry cleaner to clean the registry. Did that twice.

==Rebooted.

Went into device manager - and of course - had a few errors. Completely uninstalled both the video cards, and all of the devices showing errors. Then scanned for hardware changes and manually installed the devices one by one.

==Rebooted.

Installed the nVidia 93.71 drivers.

==Rebooted.

That did it. It runs. Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think I would have gone thru a reinstall of XP for this game. Reinstalling XP really stinks at this point - I bought it the first week it came out. I've re-installed it so many times that I have to call every time I re-install.
