Well, you are doing all the right things. From your message, we have to assume you did not change anything on your side (Hardware, ISP, connection, Vid Card, etc....) from version 1.8.4 to version 1.9. *puts on a certain LL's hat... also, check your firewall and hyperthreading settings (if any), too.
Does the login process start at all? If so, where in the progress bar and what messages are you seeing? Does the login process then 'timeout' and return to the SL Client splash screen. ?Or, does the client crash immediately upon an attempt to login?
As you know, Windows hides SL files and folders everywhere - unlike, ahem, Mac OSX, which is a breeze to completely trash all SL files and folders. Perhaps one of the Windows gurus who hangs on the forums can provide the details regarding all the places SL hides files in XP.
Otherwise, I am not aware the LL made any changes regarding minimum hardware requirements for SL client. Sounds like software issues on your OS and SL client side.

When I login, it seems to load correctly only it takes about 2 min to actually enter, (like a really long lag). Once in world, I guess, all I see is darkness as if i'm under water. I can see a dark shadow and I think it's a light shadow. I got a message saying Gestures weren't able to load. Also, when I open my IM or friends list, all I see is the word, "waiting". [/SIZE]

I had this login problems too, until i checked to login in home, not in my last location. Now it is working. I had also problems with crashing after login, so i turned off overclock, and logged from window, not fullscreen. That helped for crashing after successful login. When logged properly, i've toggled back to fulscreen, and it works now. Hope this will help you.

I still can't get in either. My last location and home are the same so that won't help me. I even went so far as to uninstall my McAfee and try to log in, but didn't make a difference. I have tried ALL the tips on the troubleshooting page and ALL the tips I am finding here. I have had the progress bar all the way full twice now and still can't get in. Was on the phone with Dell support for 3 hours last night thinking it may be a pc problem. And this morning I loaded the game onto my back up pc and that didn't work either. I am so frustrated. Dorra I have a Dell XPS 600

ok... almost 24 hours since I updated and tried to log in. I made it! I had to disconnect my router. Not sure if I can hook it back up yet (I hope so cause I need it), but at least I am in. The router I am using is a Linksys compact wireless-g broadband router model #WRT54GC

It looks like there are some really wonky problems right now with status indication, where you're not properly recognized as being offline. The system still thinks you're inworld, so you can't get back in. You may have seen a message like this: Login failed. You are currently logging in or out right now. Please try again in a few minutes. I'll lookup each of your names and ask the gridmonkey about any discrepancies, so it can hopefully be cleared up soon. Sorry for the inconvenience and hope you are able to log back into SL.
