Anyone got an error message while installing the new version?

My friend did not specify yet what the error message is exactly but he cannot get to complete the installation of the new version.

He tried to reboot, cleaned the temp files, etc... he tried to uninstall but he got the same error message again.

So anyone has had the same problem and was able to solve it and if yes how?

I will post more details if I can get to know more... ^^

hmmm, nothing like that, but i keep crashing... even when im idling at home...i think the update has messed up things.. All my components are up to date...

He is having the same message for about 25 files while trying to install, saying that it cannot write files or something like that.

He sent a support ticket but... you know how it is... it could take a week before having any reply. eh.

well I got a weird error message when i was updating, it didnt want to load the last 15 or so files from the installer. I ended up unistalling it (which didnt remove all the files) and the files in the directory where all locked and my system said they where still in use.

i ended up restarting and deleting them in safe mode, downloading the installer manualy and reinstalling that way. I'm up and running but it was not a plesant use of 45 or so minuets of my time ^^;

Here is what he said: "the error is one about writing the installation files. There are about 25 files that pop up as errors. Each on says: "unable to write [filename]... then it gives option of "retry" "abort" "ignore" or "cancel". If I abort, it is over and I cannot start SL. If i retry, the error keeps coming up. If I ignore, it goes to the next file and I have to ignore all of them. After that, I cannot start SL. If I cancel....SL will not start."

Well he did not solve it yet. I'll update on this tomorrow... hopefully linden will answer his support ticket by then too.
