can't get on (not an outage...)

I can't get on - I'm stuck at the "checking version" spot until it times out - my cable company insist that the lines are fine (which I have to agree with since I can reach everything EXCEPT SL and SL pages are loading slow) - the status page says everything is fine and nothing is posted in the forums about problems...

A ping of forums.secondlife.com times out X3....

a tracert to secondlife.com give the following:

(the first timeout is common - it's always there at the link between my router and modem)

So what's the deal? Who is pnap.net (63.251.63.65)? and how do I get them to fix the router that has me locked out??

I've got the same router as you I think. I've been able to connect though.

Try this, if you haven't already:

Go to Start > Run > and run "cmd" then "ipconfig"

Get your Default Gateway IP and paste it into Internet Explorer

Go to your firewall settings, and one of the pages should let you set firewall permissions for each computer on your network.

Basically, find yours and set it to DMZMode (I think). That'll set your PC as the default for any internet traffic that the firewall doesn't recognise. Make sure you've got something like ZoneAlarm installed though, because you're wide open now.

Good luck

Thanks - tried it...didn't work. Actually, I didn't think it would because I was on at about 3 am and was booted off, tried to get right back on and this is when it all started. I've tried my main account and alt (I know it won't make a difference, but hey, just trying in the face of "I tried everything"!) and get the same results - get to the "verifying protocol version" and sit there until it times out (which is the first screen, by the way)

No longer an issue - at 8:14 this morning I started connecting again. Despite my lame cable companies claims, I still think it was a problem on their end...
