Laptop video card not compatible..looking for suggestions

Hello I have an ATI mobility radeon x1400

It works ok until i go to log out, It continues to run in the background and won't let me end process from task manager. I then have to manually shut off my computer because it will not turn off any other way.

I have gone around and around with SL support staff and all they can tell me is to go to the forums at this point. So I am desperately hoping to get some answers.

I have a dell inspiron e1505 and i meet the requirements to play SL except the Graphics Card. (yes yes I know..."you actually PAID for a dell and want to game on it?!"

I don't have the money to buy a better laptop for gaming, but i can upgrade the GC.

Any help would be very, extremely, so beyond wonderfully appreciated.

why are you assuming the problem has to do with the X1400? I doubt thats the problem, it doesn't really even sound video card related.

Something you might try...
update your drivers for all your hardware from the latest Dell has available for download, they should be tested and working ok by Dell (in most used apps). One step further for strange issues, I've had more luck getting the latest Intel Chipset drivers from Intel, rather than using the ones Dell has for download thats usually older. Also make sure your running the latest Network drivers for however you are connecting (LAN, Wireless, whatever)

Also make sure all the latest Windows patches are installed from WindowsUpdate, and don't let Windows Update install drivers for you when it suggests drivers for your hardware, install those on your own... have had plenty of weird problems from strange and old drivers Windows Update has suggested.

Thanks! I only assumed that it was the graphics card because the Linden Labs support people said that was the final resolution to my problem and they couldnt help me further. =/
