This has been happening for far to long.
My entire avatar is currently black. It wont load up, no amount of rebake works.
Occasionally it'll show up but the moment i change my outfit it breaks again.
ANyoen got any suggestions?
Oh and this has been happening over Multiple os's, and multiple reinstalls clear cache's etc...

What video card and OS do you have? Do you have the latest drivers for the card? In the Second Life client's Preferences, have you tried changing any of the settings in all three Graphics tabs to correct the problem?

reasons;
- Unsupported vid card
- drivers out of date
- avatar vertex on/off
- if you run multiple screens, run SL in the main one, and disable other
-skin is borked
no matter how many times you rebake, try another one see if that actually rez, sometimes clearing cache helps but there has been times only way to fix it to get a new one from creator (very rare)

Card wise i have a 7600GT, latest Vista drivers.
Avatar vertex is on I believe.
I have two screens, and yes I usually run SL on the spare one, why does it matter what screen its on, or for that matter that I have to switch the other one off ?
And every skin i load is black, or just random garbage.
same for my eyes, if by some miracle i get it to load, the moment i change an item of clothing it all goes black on that section.

Some vid cards cant opengl properly on multiple screens, i get black wierdness if i run SL on both screens.

Suggest you try SL on main screen, if that doesnt work disable one, it shouldnt be black anymore.

OpenGL can only be used on the primary monitor, but the OS isn't smart enough to just turn off the other monitors when you run an OpenGL app, and will either fail to run the program, or just disable hardware acceleration and leave you with incredibly slow performance/buggyness.
