Okay Linux gurus, I have a question for you. I hear of Second Life running on Windows Emulators, most commonly Wine. Alongside that, I hear it's generally a major hassle, and suffers a lot of problems, especially between patches.

So I feel the need to ask: Is it really worth it?

Presently, I have a 1.7 ghz P4-Processor PC that runs under Windows XP, a Compaq Presario 5100 laptop that dual-boots XP and Mandriva Linux, and of course my Linux-boot Xbox (which doesn't really qualify, by the way, and NO I don't use it for illegal crap).

For those of you that have successfully gotten Second Life to run under X and emulation, this is for you:

- How easy is it to get Second Life set up? (installers, ndiswrapper, emulation, patches, etc)
- How stable does it run?
- Does it frequently break between patches?
- How do you rectify that problem if it does?

And of course, the dealbreaker:
- Is it really worth doing?

This is mostly to qualm my curiosity while we're still waiting for a real Linux client. Because I'm trying to break out of Windows as a preventative measure (the spyware and malware annoys me, even with updates / Counterspy / ZoneAlarm / AVG Antivirus / Dual Router Firewalls), Second Life is the dealbreaker on what I'll be putting on my future PCs, and some luck, my current ones.

So clue me in. :)
