I will have to say that LL has really made a mess with things and many are pissed to say the least I am one of the many that have had it with the way LL have fucked up! But I still love Torley he/ she is one of a kind and a very sweet person ...not many like Torley in sl or rl.

just sayin

OUCH! A lil harsh dont you think? I think Torley has done a fantastic job on keeping the community updated.

Instead of bashing the game and LL, why not think " WOW these guys have stayed up all night to fix the issue! What a great group!" They care about this world just as much as we do."

HMMM.... would you stay up all night at work to fix problems? LOL most would not, most would go home and work on it the next day.

Uh, I would and have stayed up all night to fix a problem. Especially if it's one that I caused because of poor/insufficient testing.

Hey be nice to Torley. Poor girl has to be the bearer of bad news all the time. You can tell she tries at least. It used to be all you would know is that the grid is offline and you'd get one lame excuse as to why. Then you wouldnt hear anything else until the grid was up again. Torley does what she can to update the blog everytime she hears something new. At least it gives the update rioters something new to bitch about every 20 minutes or so.

C'mon now... Torley is "one of us" when in boils down to it. She does what she can to let us know what's going on back there behind LL lines.

Why? Because, if you've read her early personal blog posts, you know she was just another denzian of the grid when she started... On the outside of the Lab, looking in, like us. Now that she's on the inside, she can (and does) enlighten us as best she can as she knows the info.

All these problems we encounter are because the programming team is not doing their job. They are not testing the patch before releasing it, and it causes more problems than it fixes. I have yet to see one single patch that actually didn't break more things than it fixed. I've been playing the game for about 4 months now, and I've seen a very steady decline in the quality of the patches that are released. I have zero faith in these developers because clearly they don't take the time to do the job right the first time. Even when they claim they fixed something clearly it's not, and takes several subsequent patches to actually resolve the issue entirely.

Yes, Torley is having to fall on the sword once again to cover for people who should just be replaced with better skilled programmers, but for some reason LL would rather keep the staff they have instead of improve it to make their paying customers happy. Part of me thinks these guys are only around still (and Torley tolerating all of this for as long as he has) is because they are friends and buddies of the owners. That's the only thing I can think of on why we are seeing problem after problem with these patches.

I don't know Erlor,

But I *think* s/he was implying that Torley had the unenviable job of taking the heat on the forums for the grid update problems.

I saw Erlor as being sympathetic to Torley.

Besides, you can't actually hurt yourself wih a sword in SL. :)

Good thing, too, or I'd be cutting off my arm every time I tried to type!

Well no one wanted SL to bug itself to another dimension , least the one that operate it, just image all the im's, mails, complains, and hours they will use to fix it.

Wheres out crash helmets freebee's -.-;

Trouble with SL is the updates on preview is pretty much useless , they can get out some very nasty ones there, ok... it seems ok now lets try to update the main, thats when hell breaks loose, preview isnt close enough to main anymore, so every time theres a update i just sigh and go play something else the next 2-3-4 days after a update, well not every but you can easy spot the ones that b0rked more then you have patience to wait for anymore.

Anyone remember a patch that hasnt failed last year?, size means more problems, maybe my mind is slipping as i say NEVER, bug crazyness varies tho ; p

SL starting to remind me of "windows95 what do you want to crash today"

sigh, im barly holding on to SL now, its aggrivating and frustrating nowadays >.<

ok that got a chuckle.

I am one of the very few that almost never crashed on Windows95, Windows 98, or Windows ME believe it or not.

But I dang sure fixed alot of my friends boxes that ran any of the above.

You weren't suckered into buying a copy of Windows ME (aka, let's put out a useless release to make more money and make people think we're doing something useful), were you?

lol, compared to most other MMOs I've played, Second Life's dev team is in another league when it comes to keeping the customers informed and staying on top of technical issues.

Don't whine, at least you don't get the silent treatment and they are working on it.

It mostly has to do with not knowing what "falling on your sword" means.

It means taking one for the king, which Torley cheerfully does, with good humor and great aplomb.

I'm not sure I would have done so well in Torley's position myself. I picture clumps of hair strewn all around a debris-filled room.........
