Hi all,

I want to reduce the amount of data I need to download while using SL.
I have a quota and I'm constantly running over quota.
My quota resets every month, I don't want to increase my quota.

In my graphics settings, I typically have everything on full, everything works fine.
It seem likely that reducing the drawn distance will result in my client asking for less data, is that true ?

I'm not experiencing lag, I just want to reduce the data requests, I can throttle the connection sure (Network settings), but that will just mean I wait for stuff.
The amount of data requests from my client won't change will it ?

I'll reduce graphics if it uses less bandwidth.
but graphic settings are more to do with client side rendering, right ?

Any advice ?

Ideally I'd like to have a bunch of setting I can set to massively reduce the requests toward the end of the month.

Are there any plans for preference profiles ? hmmm.

Reduce your draw distance to minimum is about the only thing I know.

Try getting the First Look viewer and raising your cache size to something astronomical.

yeah, done both these things.

I'm considering doing some tests.

- clear cache
- put all graphics options to *lowest*
- Spawn in a static sim, wait 3 minutes
- measure the amount of data downloaded

- clear cache
- put all graphics options back to *highest*
- Spawn in a static sim, wait 3 minutes
- measure the amount of data downloaded

Compare data amounts.

do NOT turn on audio streaming or video streaming.
otherwise, draw distance is gonna be the big factor.
