I was able to view video just fine yesterday in SL. I started having trouble today. I did not have Quicktime installed so I installed it. Although I don't know how I was seeing video without it (???)

I tried turning my firewall off. I installed Quicktime as well. But this is all I see:

Any ideas?

I'm having this same problem except I do have quicktime installed and did before I tried hitting the movie control button. I've never been able to play movies well (buffering hell), but I could at least see the first five minutes of something before it would reload (and reload and reload and reload). Now I just have rainbow pixels :(

Anyone know why this is?

I've NEVER been able to play movies either, I get 30 seconds of it, then it starts buffering and that's the end of my movie

ok things I have noticed in my relatively short period of time playing with streaming video in SL.

Quicktime 6 glitches ALOT less than Quicktime7 (thats my observation). It can still be downloaded do a google search for it.

when we want to play a feature length film in SL we start the movie and hit pause. come back in a couple of hours. That lets the entire movie download. None of the restarting garbage.

Sometimes SL just doesn't want to play movies. Could be internet connection, server lag, client lag or all 3. Try again another time.THis is the rainbow screen (or at least it is in my case).

Hope this helps a little. :)
