I've noticed lately [just started two or three days ago] that I can be doing nothing and the SL client will completely freeze my computer. Then I can move my mouse, but everything is mostly locked up and I can hear music. Then it does it again [locks up], then goes back to normal. After the second time, my computer normaly crashes to a blank screen and I have to restart.
SL has always worked fine and I have added nothing new to my computer since then, but the new nVidia drivers. I did uninstall them and install the drivers that were released prior to the 77 driver natch, but it still does it.
I have a fan blowing in my card, incase it was overheating, didn't work. Its not power, because I have had this card over a month and it just started.
The UI will also blink/flash off a few times, then come back. Soon after its a crash.
I've tried SWG and EQ2 and neither of them did this [EQ2 did the UI flash, but never locked up on me]
My comp specs are: AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 1.53 Ghz 512 ram nVidia GeForce 6200 256 AGP 8x

finally someone else who has this, yes i tried the nvidia 77.72 drivers got wierdness with SL , went back and it still does it.. (71.84) Every other game i play work easy peasy,, SL let me in easy a couple of times then it slaps me with " Generetic GDI " ,, wich i have to do a complete restart to make it work again. Complete freezeup occours to (rare), and yet again none of the other games i do does that. No its not power, not heat no my firewall ,definatly something to do with drivers messup, never seen the "generetic gdi" ever before. Tempted to reinstall windows just to see if it has some drivers back in system folder messing me up.

I haven't gotten the "Generetic GDI" yet. Like, when it crashes, its a completely blank screen [black, but computer is still on].
I believe it was the new drivers. Maybe I should try the driver remover and completely remove every nVidia file on my computer and put in the old driver. I will try later.

Sorry for the double post, but I tried a few more things and wanted to see if others have figured it out yet.
I used a driver cleaner and completely removed all nVidia files and put back the old drivers, still crash.
I uninstalled SL and reinstalled. Still crashes for me.
The UI isn't flashing as much anymore...but at random times, the entire computer locks up and I have to restart. No other games do this.

Hey Jaycii, Sorry you are having problems Did you check your motherboard firmware? Get all the updates for your mb if there are any. Do you have XP sp2? I had to uninstall XP sp2, it was causing constant lock ups when running SL. Do you have a firewall? If you do, test SL without it. Maybe something in the Preferences in SL, try changing prefs, like turn off shadows, lower draw distance and tweak your network maxium bandwidth.. Do you get (and send) the crash logger when you log back in? Do you have an older video card you can put back in to see if SL still crashes with that? Try a forum search, maybe someone has posted info that could help you. fen-

I fixed it. It seems after I updated to the new nVidia drivers, then deleted them and updated...it set my BUS to PCI...so I went back and redid the chipset drivers..and it has worked fine since. Although now SL is crashing as soon as I login...but not my system. Still trying!
