Hi everyone:
I'm having big problems with lag on private islands where I have my businesses established, and I'm yet totally desperated with it. I'll explain...
I am one of the administrators of Quest I and Quest II islands, so I have access to Region Tools and can take measures of almost everything.
Until January the islands seems to be ok. The lag was "normal", that is, "the lag happens when it has to happens" (laggy scripts, avatar overload, excess of prims, etc.).
Since middle January the situation has changed, the islands are a big hole of lag. Even something as simple as rezzing a prim was impossible sometimes, depending mostly of the hour of the day (better at morning, almost impossible at evening). I know that "the 30000 connected sindrome" exists but there are two things that make me think there are other reason:
- I can work perfectly, even with avatar overload, on "mainland" terrains.
- People from inside USA can work perfectly, with any class of lag, while people from Spain (for example) in identical situations (same computer, same line speed, same scripted objects on avatar, etc.) can't even move their avies due to lag. This is why I think the problem could be communications with Europe.
The configuration of the islands are the defaults (50 avatars, 15000 prims) and the scripts only take a maximum of 10 ms, but in general it takes around 7-8 ms (Region tools says). the measurements and observations I did was with the islands empty (no avies, only scripts from terrains). Other measurements with almost full islands (30 avies) takes similar times (8 ms). The FPS oscilates between 43-45 in any case (with or without avies).
Of course I review manually most of the objects in the islands searching for "temp rezzers" or something like that... none of then was there to overload with prims. And last, test I made were located in emty terrains of 4000 and 8000 meters (no prims, no scripts, no avies... impossible to rezz).
If the problem were only with that islands maybe it could be something related to the computers it resides but other island owners from Spain have similar problems.
Oh, the internet connection. Tested with DSL and cable... equal results.
I don't know what more can I do to kill the damn lag. Can anyone help me???
Thank you
PD - Please, excuse my (sometimes) poor english, my main language is spanish.
