I'm getting less than 10 fps in unpopulated areas with local lighting off and draw distance at 96.

Nvidia has a known issue with leaving bits and pieces of old drivers laying around on your system, causing conflicts....I have been and still am battling a similar issue. A google search for "nvidia driver removal" will give you many links to tools that will "completely strip" the old drivers away so you can fresh install the latest and theoretically greatest ones. On a secondary note, Shiny objects option also tends to put a damper on performance, especially in heavy prim and avatar areas. I'm getting around 15 - 35fps @ my home, but once I leave it drops off to around 5 -10......I'm running a 6800GT Over Clocked with 256meg. Thats the best i can offer up atm, I noticed a huge fram rate change after 1.6 was released and haven't been able to recover since..dropped from 20fps with EVERYTHING on Shiny, local lighting, shadows, the works but, with 1.6 and every version after I've seen 2fps with everything on, so good bye shiny and local lighting

Wow, there must be something messed up.

I have an Inspiron 8100 laptop, with a GeForce 2 (32 MB), 512 MB RAM, a 1 GHz P3 and an almost full 30 GB HD, and I get better performance than that typically, especially in unpopulated areas. If I go to the vehicle sims, I can often get 15-20 fps if there isn't anyone else around.

I run draw distance at 96m, local lighting off, shiny on. Rippled water isn't an option.

If I get into areas where there are 5-10 other avs around, my framerate drops down between 5 and 10.
