This is something really straightforward that's eluded me for some time now. Say I have a friend who made a cool bed, and he used a really nice texture for the mattress that's fully permissive but made by someone else. I'd like the texture too, but he can't remember who made the texture, nor can he find it in his Inventory. Clicking a side of that prim and going into the Texture Picker will show me the thumbnail preview but no additional info. Is there a way to tell who the Creators of textures are in an object? Thanxies in advance! P.S. One additional thing I should mention is that a copy of the texture is not in the object Contents.

We would need to know who uploaded it originally. The UID doesn't have such information, but the information is likely stored on the database somewhere (the 10L upload transaction certainly is!).
So, there's no way to know about it yet, but perhaps someday there can be. It would certainly make texture resellers more honest.

If he still has the same texture in his inventory, the Texture Picker will point to it for him, so he can read the necessary info.
You're pretty much right on the cause; the object simply references the texture directly without its other information (which has already been checked when the texture was applied). It's not impossible to pull the texture information from there, but it's not currently set up that way.

Okeydoke, that's what I thought... and no the texture is not in the inventory. ~wondering whether I should drop a notecard for Kelly to suggest a llFunction for this... hmmm~ THANXEE LEE!
