I updated my driver to the latest on ati.com but SL keeps telling me that I'm using an outdated driver...eh?

What ATI Card are you running? ATI has some very specific spec's reagarding what OS and what OS version you are running that determines what driver to use.
Also, are you trying to run the OpenGL Override / Performance feature (if your card has that option) for SL?
Just some thoughts that might be of assistance.

SL might be wrong. In certain circumstances, it'll tell you to upgrade to at least 3.6, when you're already running a 5.* driver. Is there actually any problem other than the (erroneous) warning message?

DarkWave, I had the same message a couple of days ago when I upgraded to Catalyst 5.3. As Catherine says, it's pretty much just an erroneous error message, I've seen a couple of posts regarding it and it has been brought to the Lindens attention. I just clicked the box to stop the message appearing and carried on regardless, haven't found any problems in SL with the drivers so far.
