I thought I saw something about physix when booting SL one time. I don't know if it was these boards but that would be awsome. I would consider getting one if I could use it with second life.

The latest drivers for the card appear to actually allow it to take some of the physics load off the CPU and video card for any video game using physics buuuut, and a big buuut, there is not enough actual physics going on in a typical Second Life session on the client to even matter for the typical computer. You might see a couple frames a second if a vehicle is around or bullets are flying but the difference isn't likely not enough to notice as most of it is handled on the server side. For other games, yeah it might make a nice difference but for SL, forgetta 'bout it.

All the SL physics stuff is done on the server - won't help to get one of those..

It turns out the partical system is run on the client side. I wonder what else is run there. If the physics card could handle the partical system we would see some great effects.

unless the physics card all of a sudden starts drawing 2d graphics in a 3d world (which is what particles actually are) i doubt it would do anything

It also helps if the program in question supports the Aegia. Only 2 or 3 games do at the moment, making a $200 Physics Processor quite un-neccessary.
Get alot of RAM, a dual- or Quad Core CPU, toss in a high-end video card... Heck- even a SCSI or SATA hard drive and you'll still find lag. Most of it Server side.
