A little over a week ago I purchased lindens through the client- in the past this has *not* been an issue. The transaction was to access my paypal account (as it has in the past). The client gave me the 'failure' message but when I went to Paypal the money had transferred from paypal to Linden Lab. I contacted LL support- they said there is no record to contact Paypal. Paypal says the transaction was completed- thus LL has the money. When I contacted support again (I am a premium member) to say paypal tossed the ball to them my response was, "I see this has been resolved" My last contact with support was "How has this been resolved- I don't have my 22 dollars and I don't have the Lindens! This is NOT resolved!"

No response.

What do I do? I know it's only 22 dollars but I'd have gotten more satisfaction lighting the bills on fire. :)

Any helpful suggestions would greatly be appreciated on where to go from here...

"We are currently experiencing some problems with Linden Dollar purchases, usually resulting in an error message and no transaction taking place. As soon as we have these problems resolved we will blog about it here. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause."

I guess you will have seen this blog by now...

I stated in my post that this happened over a week ago.

They've obviously been experiencing this issue for almost 2 weeks now, just suddenly they post a blog about it....

Although I cant offer a solution, I can sympathise as I am also a prem member and am having the exact same problem.

Bought US$5 worth of Lindens three weeks ago and never recieved the Lindens, even though Paypal and my bank confirm the transaction took place and my $5 was sent to LL!

I filed a support a ticket the day after and am still waiting for a response. The support ticket is currenlty shown as "work in progress" despite no update to to the ticket log from LL since I filed the ticket.

So obviously the problems goes back even further. Misery loves company. You made me feel better knowing that someone else has this problem, if I get a resolution or an answer I will contact you in hopes that you may use that info to get your problem resolved. :)

LL's lax handling of such matters speaks volumes about their priorities.

LL billing is done through a 3rd party, probably some company in India. Good luck with that.

It doesn't matter where the 3rd party billing company is located. Services like that do almost instantaneous money transfers to the accounts they bill for. Linden Labs got their money and if they did not give what was purchased then they need to fix it...........immediately. Not next week or next month. If I wanted to buy some lindens what chance do you suppose I'd have if I wanted my lindens and would pay LL (or their 3rd party billing company) when I got around to it?

I think most of the problems with things like this is that the only way you can contact LL is with an email and submit a "trouble ticket". It's electronic and I imagine those files get pretty big........huge in fact. There's not enough staff on hand to sift through all those emails and act on them. However, when it comes to real money (be it 5, 10 or 22 USD) they are treading on some pretty thin ice legally. It's theft............and with the number of transactions LL has dealing with real money, it's a potential huge amount of money being stolen. Something like this could close LL's doors and put more than a few people in jail. Their book keeping records will tell the tale. Linden Labs needs to wake up before someone drops the hammer on them.

Here, here!

The Linden Group needs a good Federal investigation, I'm thinking fraud, racketeering and lets throw into the mix a violation of the Rico Act. Maybe the threat of losing their Porsche and Oregon beach house will wise them up to the realness of the world they have a created.

We are real people, spending real money and in the process being systematically defrauded by a real individuals, who play the uncontrollable, unforeseeable glitch card at every turn and do little to resolve issues that truly matter.

Rest assured if the error was reversed, they were giving to many Linden to the dollar, you would see engineers working day and night, through the weekend, to resolve the problem. However when customers are effected, it's caveat emptor and you're just crap out of luck.

That's my two Lindens.

Update Resolved
06-30-2007 12:22
A mere MONTH after the original transaction and a few weeks after the support ticket started getting ignored I contacted chat help and asked, "so exactly where is my money?".
I didn't say it that way, I was polite, re-provided the info, and the support guy said to me, "This will be cleared up TODAY, I am so sorry about the long response time." (to the support guy who helped me- I heart you.)
Sure enough, a few hours later my money was credited back to me.

My guess is, best to talk to chat support (I tried calling but after 15 minutes of waiting I had to hang up).

Anyone else with this problem- try my route. Good luck!

I only post this update because I hate going through support forums to only find someone having the same problem as I and yet there's no solution or update. I am just sorry it took forever.

I couldn't buy lindens via LL for weeks so I gave up trying and bought them from Anshechung.com, which is like buying groceries at a 7-11 (conveinence store in the USA) instead of at the supermarket but hey it worked fine, no complaints

What do Basic members do
07-07-2007 08:29
I have been experiencing the same problem - and accidentally started a new thread. The problem clearly has not been resolved.

I credited my account with 25$ but cannot buy linden through LindenX. However as a "basic" member I cannot go to chat help and cannot submit a support ticket on this issue. There is no associated on-line help and no e-mail address to contact Linden re financial transactions. Phoning California from the UK to discuss a 25$ transaction is not an option.

Both Paypal and Second life have sent e-mails confirming the transaction has been completed.

This appears to be remarkably close to being an example of a fraudulent transaction.

I would appreciate some sort of response from Linden Lab ASAP

Kilcona, it sounds like you are being hit with the daily limit. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do until you're able to buy again. If you click on "My Account, and then "Billing and trading limits" on the left handside from the commerce tree, scroll down and you will see your daily trading allowance.

I too have had this happen. Lindens charged me 9.97 for Lindens and it was taken out of my checking account not paypal. I called LL and was told it will be refunded well at that time it had been something like 8 days after the transaction well that of course now been a month and no refunds as of yet...so i guess I"m out of the money and the lindens.

Finally completed LindeX transaction
07-08-2007 04:02
After repeatedly trying over the last 48 hours I finally succeeded in buying my Linden from the US$ account.

I would like to recommend to Linden Lab that they explicitly state that there will be a lag in the RL system rather than simply stating "there is an error" - after all we are dealing with real money!
