Just received word Group Notices don’t work in Second Life 1.13.0 (10). We’ll have a fix ASAP.) Group notices for large groups have NEVER work. Please stop the corporate spin and just really fix it.

And just now: No Ability for anyone to send group notices at all and no ability to send individual notecards.

Group notices DO work.
12-06-2006 16:57
Group notices can work. It's tricky but I've sent out several today. You need to use the Tab key to move between the buttons to get to the send button. There's some art involved because Tab also inserts tabs in text. But with the right combination of tabbing, which took me about 15 mins to sort out, I now have a viable workaround for group notices.

Cheers

On mine getting to the send button is no problem. Its the text entry fields that will not accept text.

I had this same problem tonight. Couldn't add text and couldn't attach anything to the notice. :(

See whether my posting "Workaround: Instructions for Sending Group Notices" helps. It should.

Like I said, the send button is not the issue. It's being able to put text in the fields and adding attachments. Thats the problem.

You can click send all day long and it still will not send anything because there is nothing to send.

How about telling us how you were able to fill in the text fields?

Hi - I'm not sure what more I can say, the instructions are there, they include getting to the text fields, and filling them in. Read them carefully, they do work, and we've been sending Group Notices successfully ever since in FurNation!

If you'd like, IM me in-world when you're trying to and I'll step you through it. Other than repeating the same instructions here I'm not sure how else to help you.

Tried tabbing, doesn't work. Even a few days ago when I could get text into the notices, they have not been working when I send them. My group has about 580 people now and I've been resorting to the use of the voting tool for announcements like every other group owner I personally know... notices were great when they worked, a fix would be very valuable.

# Eddy Ofarrel Says:
December 10th, 2006 at 1:42 AM PST

For anyone who needs to send a notice in the meantime:

I’ve never sent a notice out before, so I didn’t realise until I read this post what the actual problem with them was (group notice panel not accepting text).
I’ve just tried and successfully managed to send a notice using this method:

1. On the Notices tab as normal, click on Create New Notice
2. Press Tab on your keyboard once to get into the Subject box, you can then type it
3. Press Tab again to get onto the Message box, and type that out too (or paste it, etc, whatever you normally do should work)

- Pressing Tab again in the Message box doesn’t have the same effect, it just inserts a tab character, so then to actually send the message…

4. Click and hold down the mouse on the Cancel button, move the mouse off the button, then let go of it
5. Hold down Shift and press Tab, this should move the selection onto the Send Notice button, and you can then press Enter or Space to send it :)

Feel free to let me know if you have any problems with this, it worked fine for me on Windows, but I’m not entirely sure if it would work the same way on other operating systems etc.

Mouse events
12-11-2006 06:45
The problem comes from the fact that the Create Notice tab isn't accepting mouse events.

It makes it impossible to send attachments via group notice, since that can only be done via drag and drop, but you can get around the inability to post anything at all by using the above procedure.

I'm really hoping they get this one fixed soon, as it's caused no end of hassle for the members of my group as well as for everyone I know.

Group Notices Don't Work: Redux

Quoting myself from December 2006 about the broken group notices and Linden Lab's acknowledgment of it. And four months and 3 updates later still no fix. I have a group of over 3,000 members. Notices I send show up in the notices archive but never appear on the screen of online members or as a offline e-mail for any of the players. Still. I have bug reported this over ten times and I have my staff bug report it. We have never received any reply concerning this broken feature. Has anyone received any encouraging news about Linden Lab fixing this?

No. The tab workaround does not work for me as stated in an above post. The group notices stops working past 400 or so members. I have no problem entering the notice text or attaching notecards/objects to the notice. I can send the notice, but no one ever receives it.

If LABS servers can`t support over 400 members, then CAP the numbers in a group! GEsh its bad enough Lindens are always giving us the run a round ( more a lie ). Then again its their style to coverup and say all is well all is rosey as we look thur are rose colored glasses. Such as live on Second Life these day..........And the PR is even a worse of a joke

At last... a fix for this is almost done -- I'm awaiting to hear what release
it'll be checked into. Doesn't look like it'll be 1.15, but help is on the way.

Seems maybe soon we will have this working again?
Maybe another 4 or 5 months?
