Download Limits

This was posted in another forum, I'm just trying to maximise potential answers.

My ISP has a set of, fairly reasonable, peak time download limits and a, fairly reasonable, sustainable usage policy. Problem is, since I discovered SL these are going to be pushed to the limit. I've already upgraded my account to one with higher limits and I feel, addiction being what it is, that things aren't going to get any easier.

So, my question - is there anything I can do to lower the download from SL, or are these the same steps that we take to reduce lag etc? Is finding some other addiction to wallow in my only option?

1. Do not play music or Video that is streamed to you. These are HUGE sources of bandwidth. This is true both for inworld at SL and the internet in general. Turn on an old fashioned radio instead. Or fire up iTunes on your computer if you want dance music.

2. Similarly, file sharing (outside of SL) can be a major source. (and I would bet THAT is what your ISP was originally trying to stop--massive data movements caused by Bit Torrent and Kazaa users)

If that's not still not enough, then,
3. Dial down the Draw distance...64 meters or less. (so no detail is downloaded for objects in the distance.)

Who else has ideas?
