Forum profile pic fails to load?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, and I can't find any posts about similar issues.

I'm trying to upload my forum picture, it's the one below.
It's 99x99 pixels.

This is what I'm doing:
- On the Edit Profile Picture page, select the Delete current profile picture? option, and click the Save Changes button.
This clears the Profile Picture space.

- In the Upload a Profile Picture From Your Computer: text area, put the path to my file, and click the Save Changes button.
This displays my picture in the the Profile Picture space.

- Click the Save Changes button.
This displays a vBulletin Message page, with the following error:
"There has been an error in the upload. Please ensure that the file has been correctly selected and that the upload has taken place successfully."

I've tried it at 100x100, and as a .gif, and as a .png.

Am I doing something wrong, or has the forum software become an art critic?

Ah, one thingie perhaps... max profile piccie size is actually 50 x 50 pixels.

And if that still doesn't work, host it on a website (even free image hosting like IMAGESHACK.US or PHOTOBUCKET.COM) and provide a link.

Now I'm starting to feel like a complete noddy!

I tried 50x50, same error.

I created an ImageShack account, and put the link:

And I still received the same error!?!

And still no picture.

AFAICT your icon displays fine for me... not sure why it isn't working... hrmmm let's do some experiments. What happens, for testing's sake, if you download some of the other forum avs being used here and use them with your profile? You can test with mine if you want!

Also... another thing... which web browser are you using? Maybe use another one?

Download your image tweak it to 50x50 , and upload it to SL forum should work, never used the url for images , has anyone? maybe its broke

- I've tried with the image resized to 50x50, and both .jpg and ,gif
- I've tested in Firefox 1.0.7 and IE 6.0 SP1
- Torley, I nicked your picture (thanks!) and tried to upload it, and again the same error.



Do you mean that you see my icon in the left column, under my name and over my join date? Or that it displays fine where I've included it in the text of a post?

I must confess, I first encountered this problem back in June. I wanted to change my icon, but when I tried to upload the new one it didn't work. I put it down to a bolshy connection and forgot all about it, until I found the snapshot and remembered why I'd taken it. Since then I've changed machine, browser, and OS - so if I'm the only one having this problem, I'm afraid it must be personal, not technical! <grin>

Sowwies, I mean that your graphic as posted as an inline image in your previous posts looks okeydoke.

I wonder what's going on there... so weird. Got a friend's computer you can do this from? Or you know, other Internet forums you can experiment with?

Tried from another machine, still no joy.

I'm not a member of any other forum unfortunately.

I wonder if anyone else has encountered this?
