Hey people!

I know loads of people are having problems with SL now crashing, mostly blamed on the recent updates. I'm one of those people!

Maybe someone can hellp me here... I've uninstalled and updated my graphics drivers. My PC is clean of spyware and virii. My hard drives don't need defragging and I've uninstalled and reinstalled SL quite a few times now.

My spec is low and below...

AMD Athlon XP 2100+ (1.7Ghz)
512 meg RAM
Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live!
ATI Radeon 9700 PRO

All running on Windows XP with Service Pack 2.

You shouldn't need to know more really!

Ideas anyone or is it just some slack LL developers?

I have a pretty top end machine (well it was when I last played SL) but recently, I've logged in to have SL hang for 10 seconds then wake up, rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat, then stabilise untill I try to alt-drag to move the camera then bam! locked up again.
Very odd.

Could be drivers I guess, I'm on the latest Omegas but hey, might still be a bit iffy. I've certainly seen situations in games where they *tell* you to update your drivers to the latest version, yet the only version that works is the 7th newest or something. (Extreme example I know but It's happened)

I'm gonna try the latest Nvidia drivers then roll back one at a time.

Good job I've completed Longest Journey 2, 'cause the latest Nvidias don't work with that for me... (ace game though)

Hope you resolve ur issue.

I have a feeling the latest Nvidia Omega Drivers aren't actually all that new, they seem to have stopped publishing them since April last year. At least that's what the date for the lastest advertised Nvidia drivers is.

Protolog: You appear to be running an ATI Radeon card on an nVidia nForce motherboard; we've seen residents report many issues throughout the years with this combination, and a quick Google search seems to hint that SL isn't the only program that runs into problems.

Other than drivers (you're overdue for an nForce platform driver update), we've found two recommendations residents have given us for this hardware:
1) Disable AGP Fast Write in the system BIOS.
2) Disable SMARTGART(TM) in the ATI drivers.

Hope this helps!

Simply didn't like the Omega drivers.

Oh well, I'll leave Dreamfall be now that I've completed it I guess.
