Ripple water no longer working on "Go" (mobile) Geforce cards

Has anyone noticed that since the last update SL has decided that the ripple water effect cannot be done by mobile GeForce cards?

This is odd considering these cards were managing to display this perfectly before the update.

Its not even like the option no longer works when ticked, you cant tick it, its greyed out so cannot be used, Ive tried new drivers and redetecting hardware but it seems LL maybe forgot that a Geforce Go 6800 or 7800GTX are just as capable of doing this as the desktop versions are(which still work fine in sl and are not greyed out).

Ive bug reported it and cannot find any "known issues" thread for latest update, I know its not a computer problem because I have 2 notebooks that use these cards and both had this option greyed out at 1.10 update.

Anyone know anything?

Yes Im aware this forum is probably not read much but Id rather not add to the huge influx of "MY SL IS BROKEN - FIX IT FOR ME" type threads on the Second life answers forum right now.

I have a FX5600 Go in my laptop, ripple water works for me but just lags bad.

It works fine on my 6800 Go, but like any other graphics/crashing issue on 1.10, it's VERY dependent on whether you have a very recent graphics driver.

Laptops pose a problem because the "latest" driver your manufacturer offers if often months (or worse) behind the true "latest" driver from nVidia, and as such may not be sufficient. Thankfully, I have a Dell, which offers a relatively recent driver. From the feedback we've received, it may appear that HP and Toshiba drivers (to provide examples) are signficantly out of date. Residents using these kinds of laptops may have to locate third-party drivers.

This laptop is a Dell XPS M 170, Go 7800 GTX with newest driver from Dell, ripple water worked fine before this SL update now the option is greyed out.

Granted the computer Go 6800 is Alienware and although its the newest driver it may be old like you say.

but

neither laptop is crashing or not displaying water correctly, SL will not let me turn it on anymore, both did it fine up until update, then after the update the option is no longer available.

To me this suggests its not the cards inability to do it, its the SL hardware detection programs new found inability to detect that the card can do it.

Putting the new drivers in and telling SL to detect at next startup made no difference, as far as SL is concerned its decided these cards are not capable of showing ripple water so wont let you try.

Tho I was able to use ripple water at one point, its currently greyed out now. damned shame, enjoyed it while it was there. Anybody know the location of these third party drivers that Lee refered to?

I have the exact same configuration, and I can confirm this option is greyed out for me as well. Ripple water worked fine on this machine before the option was taken away a few weeks ago.

First off the Omega drivers for nVidia are horribly out of date since they focused their efforts on the ATI drivers. Try going to the tweaksrus.com website and give the hacked 91.3x drivers a chance. The hacked 91.3x drivers have been modified to support laptop videocards and contain a bunch of performance tweaks.

This might help (it helped me) with drivers:
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

It offers the standard NVidia drivers, but with a special .INF file which will let them install on many laptops.
