Hi! I'm new to all this but enjoying Second Life a lot, so please be kind and help if you can. I have searched for the answer in various forums but have not found an answer.

My problem is :

I initially changed my avatar to look as I wanted a couple of days ago. But now I need to do a few little tweaks but it now says 'You do not have permission to change your avatar' (I'm paraphrasing there a little, but no doubt you get the gist).

Any ideas why this should be so please?

Did you load a custom skin recently? Also, check your clothing. Sometimes skin and clothing textures will have restrictions on them.

If not, where does it precisely give you the permissions error?

Hi Bond. Thanks for responding so quickly. I've now been able to resolve this issue. Here's the answer for those who have the same problem.

Firstly, I hadn't done anything strange, like unusual textures or custom skins etc., I just used the normal 'off the shelf' items.

When I went to EDIT>APPEARANCE, under all BODY PARTS items I got the error YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO MODIFY THIS WEARABLE.

Under all CLOTHING items I did not get an error but got DOWNLOADING - this is how I solved the issue. I waited for some time until finally all the clothing items were downloaded and then I found that the Body Parts were available for editing too. When I initially created my avatar all these parts were instantly available, so I guess that some files had become corrupted and just needed some time to be renewed.

However, the error message really was not correct. It perhaps should have offered advice like AT PRESENT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO EDIT YOUR AVATAR, PLEASE WAIT WHILE YOUR AVATAR DETAILS ARE REFRESHED.

The answer is, give it time! :)
