Login packet never received

Ok, first I've been waiting for over 2 weeks to have one issue resolved (/111/1d/178042/1.html)

And now, to add to it, I can't even log in to the regions that WERE working for me. When I try to log in to various regions, I get the message "waiting for region handshake," after which I eventually get an error: "login packet never received."

So basically, now I can't play SL at all. I am seriously starting to lose my faith in Linden Lab's abilities.

To think that I'm actually PAYING for a premium account... *sigh*

Do you use xs4all? If so, see SVC-124.

Check to see if your firewall is blocking SL - turn it off and then try to login.

After the most recent update, my Earthlink firewall was automatically blocking the SL client but not informing me...

Yesterday I was in SL... all was great. No update since then... and now I cannot even log in. I don't think it is a firewall matter.

Dude, I've done tech support. Occam's Razor. First, you eliminate what's known to be a problem and easy to check.

No point freaking out and tearing a whole system apart for sound trouble...when the speakers are unplugged, hm?

"Login packet never recieved" means the system's not even talking to the SL servers.

Most often that's either something like a firewall coming into conflict with the client, or other software on the user end having an issue. It could be a bug in the actual client interacting badly with the system, but I don't have any chance at troubleshooting THAT.

Second most likely, ISP issues.

Third most likely (Because a lot of other people seem to be getting on reasonably successfully) is a issue on the LL end.

I wish we could fall back to the older client versions, because every new client seems to break something. :p
