i updated my videocards drivers and now my 6800 256mb agp ultra by PNY is reported to be non GDI compliant. i havent found anyone else having this error on this card nor do i have a clue how to fix it. i tryed to roll back my drivers but no luck. it wouldent even run then.. then i tried the ones off of pny's website no go there either.. please hope someone has a fix for me that Does NOT require a re-install of XP.

Same problem with my 6600. SL just kept freezing and freezing and eventually degraded so bad I cant even log on now. Dont' know if this helps but I'm running

Celeron CPU 2.93 (of course SL says this is not supported :P)
512 MB Ram
GEFOrce 6600 256Meg
Windows SP2

I also bought a PNY and it did start making some really strange noise this morning, so I've taken it out. Returning it for a replacement. How old is yours?

Download and install Driver Cleaner Pro. Uninstall your drivers, reboot to safe mode, run DCP, clean out your drivers, reboot, install your new drivers.

Personally I don't use the ones off the manufacturer's website because they're not always up to date. Looking at PNY's site this happens to be the case. They're only offering the Detonator 61.76 drivers. We're up to Forceware 91.31 officially and 91.47 in beta.

I'd recomend going to nVidia's website and downloading the latest drivers. Optionally you can goto Tweaks-R-Us and download their moddified X-Treme G driver set. I've been using the X-Treme G 91.47 drivers and I love them. Even adds a nice little feature thats supposidly something only series 7 geforce cards can handle, but turns out is just a marketing ploy (Transparancy Anti-Aliasing).

Go Here and download the latetst NGO Optimized Nvidia Driver:

http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=Files&go=cat&dwn_cat_id=10&go=giveme&dwn_id=309

I have an Nvidia 7800GT. With the oficial Nvidia drivers I could not get rippled water cuz the button was greyed-out. Most players with 7800GTs had reported a similar prroblem. After installing this driver I could get rippled water.

So if it improved my card's performance on SL it might do the trick for you.

I have been using this driver for about 2 months and have had no problems with it.

You need more RAM....512 MB doesn't cut it anymore.

Get another 256MB minimum and you'll notice an improvement. I'll also bet that the Celeron you're using is being tasked quite heavily.

Have you checked your CPU temps? Any idea what they are?
