Recently in the forums I have seen many posts about how LL should do a better job, or LL doesn't care about thier customers. This post is slightly different. Im here to thank LL for all thier hard work they put out in order to keep SL open and running as much as possible. Some people dont understand how hard it could be to run a group of 10s of thousands of customers(most they never met before) all in a single building in San Fransisco. Then, when the core of the business goes down for an hour or two, all hell breaks loose and everybody wants to quit or stangle someone.

Im not going to quote some posts specifically, but next time you write a message PLEASE reread it as if you worked there and had to go through all the complaints.

Keep up the hard work Linden Lab-ers and thanks everyone for reading!

Here is an example of the "behind the scenes" passion Linden Lab has for SL and the metaverse.

Last Tuesday I went to the Tech Museum in San Jose for the Grand Opening of their new exhibit "NetPl@net." The exhibit is created to inspire people to use the internet in new ways.

Linden Lab has contributed an exhibit called "Virtual World" consisting of 8 computers in a circle, networked together, with a simplified version of SL on them.

Ryan Linden headed the software conversion for the exhibit and did a beautiful job!

Museum visitors can "design their own characters, interact with other visitors, fly around, ride a Jet Ski, build 3D objects, and solve puzzles."

As soon as the exhibit opened to the public every single computer station was immediately filled - kids were crazy about it! It was by far the most popular exhibit.

Thanks Lindens for all your efforts both in and out world.

I may not agree with you on everything, Ming, but I'll agree here. The Lindens have worked long and hard to keep everything stable and usable, and in my experience have gone a long way to both facilitating my own projects as they have gone on the warpath against the infamous bugs plaguing the planet.

That said, I wouldn't look to the forums here as a bastion of Linden support - that's just how these things work. I would look to the Lifers, the creators, the visionaries, and anyone that ever got something to work in Second Life and experienced the thrill of doing so. These are the people that really appreciate the hard work LL puts into Second Life and, frankly, it shows in all of the awesome schtuff that's been created. :D

It might not be much, but I appreciate it. Sans sig. ;)

Agreed. I said it right from the start when I first joined SL, and I'm still saying it. Linden Labs is without a doubt one of the most responsible, friendliest, approachable, caring, and hard working companies I've ever dealt with. Thanks, LL, for everything you do.

I approve, Ming. (I worked as the only sys admin in an ISP at one time, I know the pressure of having thousands of users and I feel for the Lindens so much)

This is so true.

A job well done by the Lindens - and if a kid who believes the world is turning around his Athlon with umpteen gigs and pfumpteen disk and zonkteen Plus Graphics Adapter, threatens to quit.

LET HIM

Im responsible for some servers myself and i know what a PITA useres can be.

I think much of the whining in the forums over downtime is that many of us are lost without SL. There's really not a lot of it either, all things considered. Though I do find it annoying that it's always in UK peak time...

Keep up the good work, Lindens...

Here Here Ming!! I totally agree with you the Lindens do an excellent job with the mammoth task of keeping SL going strong. They are pioneers in a technological adventure and bend over backward trying to keep us denizen of SL happy. Where else in cyber space can you do all that we can do in SL? Plus it takes courage for them to wander amongst us in World. ;)

I've seen it too often in the forum when ever someone has encouraging words in support of the Lindens they are bashed and flamed, too sad people would prefer to only see the negative side of things. It is one reason I don't visit the forum unless I'm looking for information. I'm disappointed when SL is down but it's always for a good cause, to make it operated better. If I were a Linden reading the forum I would get pretty discouraged.

THREE LOUD CHEERS FOR THE LINDENS!! GOOD JOB KEEP IT UP! :D

true that people get frustrated and vent a little on forums. It's tough when you have a product so addictive that people get the shakes if they can't log in. ;-) But I also see many outpourings of support, this being yet another example.

Hear hear! Go LL!!!!

I've been known from time to time to be a bit of a troll. At times single minded. I've even had the gall to post how LL could do things better (hind sight is 20-20). It may seem like I don't appreciate the job being done. Truth is i do appreciate the job done. I think LL is doing a good job and I couldn't do better under the circomstances (maybe a little better :D ).

That being said if I were unhappy... lets say we don't want to see me unhappy. I'd get to role play my name. They would have to do something pretty drastic to make me unhappy; like deleting my inventory.

But, yes, LL is doing a good job. I'm not about to stop playing.
