Are your "taken" objects disappearing?

This has happened twice today.

I right-click an object, then touch 'Take' on the pie menu. The object sits there. And sits there. The pie menu no longer shows the 'Take' option. Attempts to access its contents (I was trying to retrieve a script I had been working on) fail. Then the object disappears. And it doesn't reappear in my inventory. Gone.

I rezzed a surfing board on my friend's land couple of weeks ago, I sat on it... when I got up it disapeared suddenly. Nobody could see it anymore, we relogged... it was not there still.

Next morning it was back there on the beach where it disapeared the day before. I tried it again, same thing happened... and this time I lost it for good... LOL.

Strange things happens lately. Drug is not good.... ;p

I've had objects not de-rezzing happening most of the day now. It happens either on a take or delete for me. I have found teleporting out of the region and coming back, they are gone upon return.

Yes, Yesterday I was retexturing an item I sell. I spent 3 hours. I did a Take to inventory, and the item stayed in world, and never went to inventory. After waiting about 2 minutes I got worred, so I tried making a copy of the item in world. It sent me an error message about not having something selected at Root. I relogged, and the item had disappeared from world, and never appeared in my inventory. :( Wasn't the last server patch supposed to prevent this kind of inventory loss?

I had the same thing. Worked on a shoe.. tried to take it.. but it remained in-world. I could not edit the shoe anymore, not take a copy, nothing. After some time the shoe disappeared, and no shoe in my inventory.

A tenant on my island took her house to rezz a new one. It looked ok, but the old house was still there, but invisible, like a ghost. I restarted the sim which solved the problem (but no shoe). It looks like this problem is also connected to the 'fix' for the inventory loss..

:(

Is it me or is everyone having this problem lately? There are a bunch of threads where this is discussed, and they all appear to be dated within the last couple of days...what is SL up to?

To solve the problem send a ticket with exactly what you said about your invisible object with the region name. THe lindens will restart the region and the problem should be solved.

I have done that this afternoon. Then I was away so I don't know if they restarted the region but the ghosts are still there. And I've got no answer from anyone.

First of all you can't restart a mainland sim.

Second of all, if you've lost your work on an object or a texture, the restart will most likely take you to a point in time before you started you're work so it won't restore what you've lost.

Nevertheless, everybody who has this problem should file a bug report or a ticket. The Linden's have to be told how serious a problem it has become.

This is being tracked in jira - https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-237

For those doing building/scripting work, I suggest you use "Take a Copy" from the pie menu. For my own work I normally just do that so I have a copy in my inventory, and leave the original in my workspace in world, then at least I have two copies in different locations if things go wrong.

If you are using a sandbox, do Take A Copy first, check that a copy has appeared in your inventory, then Take. If both work you have two copies in your inventory (and if you wish you can delete one or just keep two for safety). If the Take fails you still (hopefully) have the copy.
