I tried looking through posts here on the forum and in the FAQ, but I either didn't look deep enough or it's not there. Occasionally, my computer completely locks up and forces me to hard reboot my whole system only seconds after starting Second Life up. I'm on a Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop, with an ATI 9700 graphics card, SigmaTel sound card, and Intel 4 processor. In the past, this problem goes away if I start SL and run it without running any background programs, but now even that doesn't work. Does anyone have any clue what's wrong? Any help is really appreciated.
EDIT: I'm using Windows XP Pro.

Turn off Fastwrite and VPU Recovery...(right click on the desktop, properties, advanced, and found in there)
I turned those off and have not had a issue since with my 9600XT.

Ok, home now, so can see my setting exactly... Right click on background, properties, Settings, Advanced SmartGart is were you turn off fastwrite... VPU Recover is were you turn that off.. if you don't see those, then time to download the newest ATI drivers.. I run the lates Omega Drivers, at www.omegadrivers.net...if you don't want to try them then www.ati.com and download drivers... Hope this helps.
