We are aware of the login delay, you are correct that it is the same issue from last week, and that it gets worse at peak use hours. There is scheduled maintenance for Thursday: /3/6a/31873/1.htmlFrom: Ian Linden " We'll be taking the system down on Thursday at 6am Pacific to repair/replace our database equipment. This should reduce or hopefully eliminate login delays. Expect 6 hours of downtime."
We apologize for this frustrating situation, please trust that we are doing everything we can to minimize its effect on you.

Login Delays?
01-04-2005 17:14
I cannot get in at all. No matter how long I wait, it errors out and snaps me right back to the login screen. Been trying for 60 minutes solid. Very frustrating. Much more than delays going on here!

"Login Delay" is misleading, "Login Failure" would be more accurate.

"Login Delay" is misleading, "Login Failure" would be more accurate.
Delays for some and failure for others is still failure from a systems point of view. There is no benefit in downplaying problems with misleadingly positive terminology.

Seabunny tears. I can't log in. Every time I try, after a few days, I am reqested to "get a new vervion of the SL software". It takes time to do that. I do this. But, I still can't log on. No cigar. What am I doing wrong here? I can't play SL any more.

I do not understand how a hard drive failing one day can lead to rampant login server problems.

Queuing is OK for a game that you login into once, as a nice smooth quick line..
BUT I have never not had to login in atleast 10 times a night (if busy, teleport, building, etc..) so the queue idea was silly from the start, a very bad choice of a "fix"...
BUT Hopefully thursday all will be back to normal..
I Just tped to an event, all my attachment dropped off, had to re log (very normal) 20 minutes later still waiting to get back in...just silly..

I've got the latest version, (.13 I think) and it's been 'connecting to region' for about an hour and a half.
I can't wait to get into that region, there must be a HUGE party going on in there. Why else would it take 90 mins to connect to a region?
As far as I am concerned, SecondLife is DOWN, and I challenge EVERY linden lab member of staff to prove me wrong; make my client log in.

Logins appear to be working fine for me as of the finish of repairs yesterday Linden Labs have done a good job of fixing this particular outage. I moaned as much as the next person about the outages, but I can say, I was planning a server for myself in October and I'm still fine tuning what kind of RAID array I want in there, and what type of hard drives etc. The single biggest problem I see with any server is hard drive failure which no company no matter how rich can 'opt out' of, as all hard drives can die, at any time So I don't think LL are particularly to blame for the outage, though many may debate all kinds of areas like contingency plans for when a drive breaks. My point is, a downed hard drive is no small issue and I think Linden Labs came back quite strong in the end.
