When ever I link a large number of prims or am working with an object with a large number of linked prims in it, my internet connection crashes. I have to reset my modem everytime and it's a PAIN. Anyone else have experience in this? What is wrong?

I have an external cable Modem...btw

How many are you trying to link, roughly?

I'm just curious.

The thing I'm working on is about 24 prims. Others have been bigger.

Do you have any type of router or firewall between your cable modem and your computer?

Do any of your cable modem lights go out/blink when this happens?

Also does it do it any other times while not in SL linking prims?

This is very strange :P Reinstall SL! I don't know honestly if this would fix such an odd issue , but reinstalling couldn't hurt.

I have the Window's XP firewall up...I have to because if I take it off the blaster worm will kill me. I can't get rid of it...I've tried.

No, none of the lights go out when this happens. Just have no connection anymore.

I'll try reinstalling...I'm doubtful though :D

I doubt its because of selection/linking...I have a pretty average DSL connection, and I can select upwards of 1,500 prims with little difficulty. 20+ really isn't a problem, or shouldn't be. I'd suspect your router primarily like others have said.

I don't have a router...

It doesn't happen when I select them prims, I can select as many as I want...only when I link them, or when I'm working with a large number of linked prims. Like if I'm changing the texture of all prims and drag a texture into the texture box in edit.
