WHEN will sl work for vista, everytime it goes to open the window to launch SL it crashes, my graphics card is Raedon X800, and Im running Windows Vista Ultimate. Everything worked fine untill i installed vista several months ago due to a windows XP error. So my only question is How (if possible) do i run SL on Windows Vista? Or if second life can even really run on Vista. Thanks guys any comments would be appreciated!

there are some way,s (i don't know them as i don't have to deal with vista) but you won't get any official support for SL and vista (yet)
and if you still have an XP disc just format the hell of the laptop if its really a bother.

THere are hundreds or thousands of peopl eusing SL on vista.
The reason it doesnt't run is specifically because of the ATI drivers you currently have installed.
Laptops are frequently WAY out of date with drivers and so laptop users with ati cards may be more out of luck but the latest ATI drivers from teh ATI website should get you running great on vista.

It is not without reason that big companies always wait until
(a) the first service pack is available or (b) one year after the initial release
of a Microsoft operating system before they even consider using it. You got Vista? You are living on the bleeding edge there, man, so be prepared for a rough ride!

I just bought a new PC, which came with Vista with no other option.
Naturally, this concerned me, so having spent an hour with almost every employee in the store, we settled on a particular machine, and upgraded the graphics card - a Nvidia Geforce 7600GT.
Once I'd managed to get it online (yes, how are you meant to install the new USB modem drivers if you can't get online to download them - good job I have a memory stick) I downloaded SL, it ran first time and perfectly, with 40fps and draw distance 200.
So yes, it's graphics card sorry.
