Hello,

I was planning to give a demo of SL and some applications in it tomorrow at a conference, and when i tried to access it from my hotel room, this is what i get...

waiting for region handshake
Uable to connect. Login packet never received by login server.
Please try again in a few minutes etc...

Might this problem be related to the routing issue?

Hi, Moriz,

In addition to the routing problem in the San Francisco area (which may or may not be impacting you; I know I've had a rough ride today), your hotel may be blocking some needed ports in its firewall.

From the FAQ:

Second Life needs to connect to ports 443/TCP, 12035/UDP, 12036/UDP, and 13000-13050/UDP. You should configure your firewall to allow outbound traffic on those ports, and related inbound traffic.

Ordinarily, I don't take it upon myself to try answering questions best left to the more technically apt Lindens, but I figured you could use an early start on at least this much info for tomorrow, in case you need to make arrangements with the conference center's network administrator.

Good luck!

I had this exact same problem a couple of nights ago at a hotel. It seemed to just be an issue with either their router or my airport router that I brought with me. I think it was their system, though, since my current hotel works fine.
