Ok... I get that... but how many minutes is a few minutes because this has been going on for SEVERAL minutes now... atleast 10, I've waited an addition 5 minutes since starting this post and this is getting ridiculous.
What's the deal? ><

2 Posts in announcements since I first came over to the forums, cant say they arent on the ball when it comes to issues, but its still frustrating when you get caught in a bad situation unexpectedly and cant do anything to fix it, or have any idea how long its going to be before the fix kicks in

Login Failure

Question: When I log into Second Life, the program returns an error saying You are already logging out, or logging in. Is something wrong?
Answer: The Second Life 1.9 update made major infrastructure changes to how your login session is maintained on our servers. Occasionally, the server that handled your last login session may take a few minutes to recognize that you have logged out.
Please wait a minimum of fifteen (15) minutes before attempting to log in again. Repeatedly attempting to log in when you receive this message may result in the process taking longer, preventing you from logging in at all.
The above is from the SL Wiki on Tech Support.
Apparently this was an added bug for version 1.9 and they knew it was going to happen. If enough people complain, maybe they will fix it (likely breaking something else in the process).
Picture this... You are hosting a game and you crash, 15 minutes later you might get back in. Given that scenario, how long do you think it will take people to not play games at your place because of this?
I have been playing this game for 6+ months and have yet to see LL actually fix anything. They seem to shift the issue from area to area and worse they do it on our time. Instead of working on this stuff late night (where it is convenient for probably the larger group of players) they work on it when it is convenient for them.
All this down time and no mention of pro-rating account costs to offset the non playable time. As of this post the grid was down again and restricted to Just Lindens.

got to love the "oh noes i cant play secondlife" posts - heres a suggestion - let the lindens sort what they are sorting, if you dont like it - take up a pasttime such as knitwork or sewing, make yourself a nice cup of tea and relax... SL is a constantly evolving piece of software thats always going to run into bugs and issues like this, and bugs like this will always pop up - yes its inconvenient but depending on how long this goes on for - its just a break.

From: Viktor Vox I have been playing this game for 6+ months and have yet to see LL actually fix anything. They seem to shift the issue from area to area and worse they do it on our time. First, I've been here for about two months and I've seen them fix plenty. But let's just look at what they tuned up in the last upgrade. No more vehicles spiraling to their doom when crossing sims and nigh instant teleporting between sims in particular. Both however would be an interaction with the asset servers, and I imagine that the current downtime is related. But still, those two features solve quite a few problems with slow loading inventories between teleports and trans-sim vehicle operations. Second, for them this grid crash _IS_ late at night. It's currently 2AM for them! That's hardly convenient for them, especially considering most of their team is sleeping still. Like it or not LL is run like game company not a nationally regulated public service, employees do not work shifts and are not on call 24/7. Most of them work a standard work week while a skeleton crew likely, nay, obviously works during the night. Would you rather they did updates during the middle of their night with the night crew who probably had no direct interaction with the code involved, or would you prefer the day crew who do most of the coding?

Well from the sounds of it, its a major error server side, so the best of luck to the LL team on fixing it...
