I only joined second life today, and after having the program crash on me a number of times. I now am getting a message saying that I cannot access second life from this computer.

Looking back through this forum, it is said that you get this message when you have been banned. The only thing I have done in the game is try to learn scripting by working on making a basic hot air ballon and okay the object went out off the world a couple of times, but would I be banned for this ?

I haven't heard anything at all saying I`ve been banned or any warning.
I Just get that message.

Although I can still login to this website and access my account details (and again nothing is shown under account history except that I joined today).

Well I can now (over 1 hour after I first got those messages) login again. So I don`t know what those messages were about.

It sounds like you might have done something that was percieved by a Liason as being an attack on someone, and were suspended for an hour. The problem with the current discipline system is that they don't actually tell you what you've done, or in the case of short-duration suspensions, even IF you've done something. Consequently, it can be overly tough on some users who didn't mean to do whatever it was they were punished for.

The reasoning for the "don't tell" discipline policy is to protect the "victim's" rights, but a lot of people see it as a bad thing.

I'm not sure what I was meant have done what could have been seen as a attack on someone. Really the only thing I have done since joining is to look around and then went to one of the sand boxes and worked on learning to script, and the object I worked on was a hot air ballon. (yes I know there are already scripts in these forums for them, but I wanted to learn how the scripting worked) The only thing what went wrong with this (what I could see possible I was banned for) was that it went into a spin and flying off the world and I got a message saying that it had been returned to me in my lost and found and then a couple of minutes later the client crashed and then I couldn`t log back in.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking... like if it went and knocked someone around, perhaps.

It only went spinning upwards not along the ground. Anyway, who knows? The only thing I do know is that I haven't even spent more than 30 seconds logged in since it allowed me to again and now this morning (I'm not in the US) I`ve woke up and it won`t let me login again.

It's impossible that I`ve done anything to get banned again as the only thing I did was login and once I found that I could again, I logged straight back out as it was late and I needed to sleep.

I haven't heard from anyone from support, so I have no idea what is happening. It's not the best way to get people to try second life, if I had meant to have done something the least they could do is tell me. I'm new at this and as far as I know I haven't done anything and yet it seems that I've been banned twice... Once when I didn't even log in for more than 30 seconds.

The only other two things I have noticed is

1: last night when it did allow me to log in again, I had just rebooted my computer and restarted my router so as I have a dynamic IP, this would have changed. Would they ban/suspend someone just by a IP number rather than the account, could it be someone else using the same ISP has been banned/suspended and I`ve got caught up ? I have tried disconnecting and reconnect this moring and I can`t login still.

2: while 8 times out of 10 I get the message saying second life cannot be accessed from this computer, the other 2 times it either hangs while saying verifying protocal or hangs when it says that it`s logging in. could it be some other problem and it`s just giving the "Cannot access error"?

edit:

okay it seems like it is a problem on my computer as every time I restart my router, it seems to let me connect, but if I disconnect and then retry it won`t allow me to untill I restart my router again. I have tried completely disabling the firewall and this doesn`t make any difference. Disonnecting from the ISP and then reconnecting doesn`t make a difference (even though this does change my IP number). So I really don`t know what it is. I have no problems with any other program.
