I lost some expensive items when the sim they were on was rolled back. I contacted live help and filed a bug report (that's what live help told me to do) So what are the chances I will get my items back? Would it be possible to get a refund of the amout (in L$'s) Anyone have any expirence with this happening?

Wouldnt count on rollback to get your items back, happens
What you should do is contact the people you bought it from, and ask for another copy, most people know the pains of rollbacks eventually -.-;
(lost 6 hours of scripting and about 40-50 hours of build time cause of them, : p good thing i save things aalot)
You definatly wont get a refund for it.

its gone for good dont count on ever seeing it again... sorry its happened to me many times. some times the seller will be nice if but not always. live help will give you a runaround, no one will ever admit to you its gone for good. ya they have backups of the data for complete sims and large inventorys but no one will go in and search for one item.... they are just for major crashes to rollback to.... -LW

This is why folks should always sell expensive items as
COPY / NO TRANSFER
instead of
NO COPY / TRANSFER
Really, people. It's very frustrating to lose things. It's even more frustrating not to be able to back up your builds without removing all the darn NO COPY stuff first.
From now on I'm not supporting any vendors that sell NO COPY merchandise. I strongly recommend that everyone do the same. NO COPY stuff is impossible to back up and way too easy to lose.
Come on, vendors. Think about your customers' needs and make things COPY / NO TRANSFER!

Stopped buying things in SL that i know are ;
no modify no copy
Why?, cause its to easy to loose, and having no mod is just a nuisance on prims.
Animations are only exception, but if they dont have modify i wont buy it, why? cause i tend to use anims in various things and if they have same name and no modify its pretty much wasted.

From: someone I contacted live help and filed a bug report (that's what live help told me to do) Whoever told you to file a bug report was just trying to get rid of you. The bug report will be filed as "not a bug" because it's not. I'd talk to the merchant and see if they'll give you a replacement. If not, I'd buy it again. From: someone Come on, vendors. Think about your customers' needs and make things COPY / NO TRANSFER For items that you rez, I agree. For clothes and hair, I tend to agree also, but it's more debatable. From: someone and how i would do refunds/exchange on no transfer? Do you really need to be able to do refunds/exchanges? If someone buys something that is not as advertised, they probably deserve a refund. If they buy something that they turn out not to like, they probably should just keep it or delete it. It doesn't really matter if the merchant gets the original item back, because it has no resale value.

I sell jewelry, I really don't have an option but mod/no copy/trans. It has to be mod for fitting and has to be trans, because, what good is jewelry if you can't give it away?

Funny part is I lost my right boot and not my left. Expensive biker boots too!
Only one solution. Amputate! Pablo

One of the things I lost was a pipe organ that cost me nearly 1000L I would've like to have had a copyable version but it was no copy/trans and I have never seen another one in all of SL, so even though I prefer copyable items too when it's something like that, that I can't build and no one else makes.... Oh and I haven't heard anything back from my bug report, no surprise. Nor have I heard anything back from the guy who made the items. I have a feeling that I am pretty much SOL here.

no copy/transfer items >
Most creators will never give you a new one since they can never know if you actually lost it or gave it away, proving you lost it is pretty much impossible. I lost a few items that was copiable, no transf, and the same item several times, now if that happend to a item that is no copy/transfer creator will brand you a lier. no copy = no way Also hate no copy cause SL cant make shortcuits to outfits and have to find it every time i need to use/wear it as i cant put them in a folder with the outfit/items/bodyshape/ect , most of avatars i have are like that everything in one folder. But yes it mess up giving things to people you know, why you take them there and hand them money to buy it -.- i dont trust asset with my stuff, so i back up everything to a alt. Can only hope SL will allow us to make shortcuits to a appearance someday , would be REALLY handy instead of moving things around in folders.

If the sim does not do a SERVER SAVE and the sim crashs. Your in problems.........What you can do file a lost report with LLAbs and they find it. MAYBE your get it back but if there not SERVER SAVE your going to lose items for good.

LL will not help you. Live help will claim there is nothing they can do and your bug report will be completely ignored. I did this less than a month ago. They just don't care how much you spent or what happened. There will be no repsonse from them.
Contact the item creators and hope that they are as kind and generous as the people I dealt with when this happened to me. I was very lucky and got everything I lost replaced. And certainly not because of LL. I hope you are as lucky.

File a Lost item report. Items have been recovered this ways for some. Is not about LLabs libilities here its just getting items back. I just want to clear up some confusion from the above post............Makers IF you explain what happen you get replacements MAYBE.........It just depends onthe makers believes in replacements.

LL must do a search through about 30 terrabytes of data to recover lost items. No simple task! Of course, file names and asset types will greatly narrow down the search, so it's worth a try. I believe Second Life is ultimately heading towards open source for everything, so lost data will only be the fault of the user not backing it up themself.

I got my 500L stipened today and that gave me just enough to buy everything back. I don't know if the guy who made the stuff even got my message to him. It's an expensive lesson but still a lesson learned, thanks for all the advice guys.
