Texture rezzing and the cache

I have problems seeing some textures load, especially clothing textures that never seem to load. The in-game workaround seems to be to remove and quickly re-wear the clothing item. But are there other approaches? Does deleting my SL cache help? If so, do I delete *every* file in the cache folder?

Also, I checked the bug-list and known-issues lists by following the Wiki links at the top of the page here, and I didn't see slow-clothing-texure-rezzing on the list. Is this as good as it's gonna get? I didn't have problems like this before one of the recent updates.

Anyone? Can you tell me precisely what I need to do to "empty" or clear my cache? I see a 1G file called data.db2.x or some such, and a lot of tiny files called *.slc files. Is it enough just to delete that one data file?

Also, is this on LL's list of things to fix? It's my biggest issue with SL, along with the very slow grid-wide performance we sometimes see.

I am having the same problem. It seems to do fine on my laptop, but on the desktop which has much more memory and a faster processor (512 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM, 200 GB 7200RPM ATA Hard Drive, Intel P4 Processor, and 128 MB shared video memory), the textures don't load on clothes! I have been clearing the cache, changing clothes logging on and off, but it's still the same.

What gives? Anyone NOT having this problem??? Could you post screenshots of your Network, Graphics, and Advanced Graphics Settings PLEASE!!!!

The texture loading issues have been around since 1.7.0, trust me its alot better now. Lately though there seems to be issues on LL's side of things. There's a theory floating around there's something up with the assest server again. Keep in mind this is just a theory, not a rumor nor a fact.

Makes sense, sometimes after teleporting, I'll have someone else's body shape...like a man or a really masculine woman!!!! And my base hair will be different...so I'll have to go apply my outfit again (Thank goodness I saved one!)Geez! I wish they'd get it together soon!

Here's how to clear your Cache. Go to the Preferences and then to the Network tab. There's a button there that says Clear Cache. Click it then quit and restart SL.

Vlad, thanks for the help. I'll try that. Things can hardly get any worse, so worth a try.
