Is it possible to connect to SL using a Lan connection?
I cant find anywhere to change the connection settings?
Maybe its not possible to change to a proxy like in IE?
Thanks,
Mac

Found this elsewhere on the SL site..
Second Life needs to connect to ports 443/TCP, 12043/TCP, 12035/UDP, 12036/UDP, and 13000-13050/UDP. You should configure your firewall to allow outbound traffic on those ports, and related inbound traffic. --- And here's an example of a LAN setup: Internet line coming in > Modem (provided by ISP) > First PC > 10 port Hub > 3x PCs connected to hub The first PC on the hub browses the web and plays some other online games Second PC on the hub browses the web and is also split to run a voip phone line Third PC on the hub browses the web and plays Second Life Depending on the firewall (if any) running on the PC between the modem and the hub, (and maybe the PC that has SL on it too), the port numbers given for SL above may need to be entered into the firewall program(s); directing the traffic coming to and from those ports; to your pc number on the LAN. Check that the pc (that has SL on it) has internet access in other methods before trying with SL (for example, webpages and chat program like msn/wlm). If both those are okay, then try SL, if SL still wont log in, then go and put the port information into the firewall program. That is my basic understanding of it and I hope it has helped. |

Maybe its not possible to change to a proxy like in IE? Thanks, Mac *bump* It would be technically possible to *create* a proxy such as browsers use, but I do not know of any that have been built. So, the short answer is that it is not possible to change to a proxy like in IE. |
