Cannot get past "Registering Agent"

Hi! I am Jezz, and a newbie here.

This is the first time I have visited Second Life. Got in successfully around 4:00 PM PST, did a little avatar customization and walked over to the shore near where I entered. Then experienced what seemed to be lag. Ben told me that the area I was standing in was notorious for this. I tried to Fly to a couple of places by selecting first "Track Ben" and "Fly" when prompted. Then tried clicking on a landmark (I believe) and neither worked, so I quit out at about 4:55 PM PST.

When I tried to get back in, it seems I am stuck at the "registering agent" phase and the progress bar is stuck half-way and pulsing.

Perhaps a server is down?

Have you tried simply restarting and trying again? Re-enter your username/password and try to connect again. I had the same thing happen to me where it wouldn't go past register agent, but when I restarted and tried again it worked..

Thanks, Maki -- I was eventually able to get back on and did not have to restart. I will remember that suggestion, though!
