I LOST half my build just by "unlinking" one object!

Ok this is a new one and it's quite terrifying. I have a build that was all linked. I clicked on just one object within the build so that I could unlink it. I clicked unlink and then over half of the build vanished! I received a message saying the parcel doesn't accept objects moving into it from other parcels, which I wasn't doing, and it's simply DESTROYED. It's not in my lost and found, it is GONE, just by clicking "unlink"!!!! WTF?!?!

Come on LL, get your act together, what gives???? Now I have to build it all again thanks to this major bug.

Esch man, what are you breaking stuff over there??? lol

So when you hit unlink the whole thing, including the root prim disappeared? was there any redline packet loss going on at the time? I have been seeing some funky things happen during redlines. Mostly when trying to link things and all of a sudden 2 or 3 of the objects try to become root prims at the exact same time (fun stuff)

Sorry to hear about the dissappearing build man.

Yeah - This happened to my shop just the other day .. I was unlinking 2 prims from the linked set and the whole thing exploded into bits.

My camera constraints were off and my camera was focused on one of the prims. This is how I saw where the bits ended up. Basically, this was right at the other end of the SIM around the <0, 0, 0> co-ordinates, except somehow, all my prims reported as being underground (-8 metres, I believe it was) ..

I could not take the prims back to inventory. I had to relog. Upon relog, my 2 unlinked prims were completely gone. The rest of my build was invisible, but still there (in the correct location) - meaning I could stand on the floor, walk into walls etc. even though none of it was visible to anyone apart from the root prim. Examining the properties of the root prim reported it was a 9 prim object, but you could only see 1.

In the end I contacted live help and got them to restart the SIM. Once restarted, only my root prim was left and the other linked-in invisi-prims were gone for good.

Some weird stuff going on indeed!

Geoff.

I don't have confirmation of this, but the person who is renting the space that this build screwed up on just IMed me and told me that the roof is still there but it's now INVISIBLE. So somehow, clicking "unlink" made everything phantom with full transparency. I have yet to get in to the game to double check this.

Exactly the same thing happened to me a few months ago: I unlinked a prim and the multi-prim object it was linked to turned invisible. I could stand on top of it and collide with it, but I could not select it with a right-click. The invisible prims were definitely there, however, and they were still using prims from my available pool of prims. After a few days, the object vanished completely and I had to rebuild it.

I had this happen when I *linked* an object. The interesting thing is that I got a message saying that the object couldn't be moved into the parcel because it didn't allow objects moving in from other parcels. The object appeared to be at <0,0,0> in the sim for a while, and I could select it there, but not take or edit it.

It would be interesting to see if that option was set on the parcels where this problem was reported.
