ATI Catalyst 4.6 breaks SL?

I have experienced frequent and random SL crashes using ATI's Catalyst 4.6 drivers. Retrograding to 4.5 appears to have removed the problem.

Athlon XP 3200+
ASUS a7N8x-E
OCZ 2.5-3-3-6 512MB PC400 (x2)
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
(6X FSAA, 16x ANIO, bump and lighting enabled)
Windows XP SP1
SL 1.4.0 and 1.4.1

Can anyone with a similar configuration confirm/deny SL / Catalyst 4.6 badness?

I am also having problems with Omega 2.5.51 (they are Cat 4.6 but 3rd party), but i can't retrograde because the Omega archive is currently down. It's quite annoying, lots of vertexing issues and frequent crashes.
