At first, about 3-4 days ago, I thought it might be me and my set up - or at least my cable provider. It seemed there was a general degradation of SL performance, FPS, texture loading, etc.... Nothing had changed on my end, so I shot an IM to Live Help.
No.. nothing reported on their side. Of course... "Clear Cache" and relog. But we all know, that fixes everything - until you TP to another sim / server.
Reported the issues again today... this time a Live Helper quickly responded that is was 'server side' issues on textures loading and not 'me' or the client. To bear with LL... it was going to be fixed.
Bottom line, is the overall load due to increased numbers of ppl inworld and what has to be tremendous number of hits on the server side taking it's toll on overall SL performance?
What is LL doing to beef up its server side resources to handle the increased load?
Just some very unscientific observations.....

Another cause is that they aren't doing anything to beef up the asset server; to the contrary, they've spent the last year or so tweaking it on each release to discard requests as a way of "optimizing" the server.
But, LL hasn't ever seen what you are reporting, therefore it must be your firewall or sumptin...

Voices of Experience...

Thank you both... voices of experience. We all have literally years of inworld experience against which to judge current overall grid performance issues. I, too, agree that the recent huge increase in grid load /has/ to be having a negative impact.
Again, what have we heard from LL regarding increased resources and a plan to deal with what is obviously the recent huge increase in server(s) load and bandwidth demands?
Thanks for your feedback and support in this regard.
