Has anyone noticed no matter what clothing item they buy the little icon shows up as a "shirt icon" in their inventory? --- gotta be a bug for sure -- is there plans to fix this?

Hmmmm that bug started for me in the .10 upgrade, disappeared in the .11 one and is now back in the .12 one, its kinda annoying and I found that even when the new stuf I was buying was fixed the old stuff still stayed as shirts, now I have to actually LOOK when I mix and match :-(

I filed a bug report on this a few weeks ago and had a reply that it's not a bug, it's a new feature.

The icons stay like that until you make an outfit out of them in appearance.

Personally I think it's a pain, I don't make outfits, I mix and match a lot of my clothes.

I don't like this feature one bit.

Edited to add: When you make an outfit they go back to the original skirt/shirt/jacket etc icons.

No Outfits

I never make outfits either - I always just put on parts and hope they look ok as a whole  That seems like a real silly enhancement .

The same is true for newer creations of hair, which come to us with the "feature" of using the same icon previously used for only for skin. To convert new hair to the more useful icon which looks like hair, open the Appearance menu and Make Outfit. After saving, move the re-icon'd hair from clothing to wherever you keep body parts.
What's so strikingly silly about these new "features" of using generic universal icons until made into an outfit: Once an outfit in its own folder, I'd imagine many people forget about the folder's contents as I do. It's beforehand, when you're assembling components to create an outfit, that it's really helpful to see, with a distinctive icon, that something is a shirt or a shoe.

I thought this was a bug too.... and maybe it really is and LL is embracing the "that's not a bug it's a "feature", hehehe so we don't need to fix it now" idea that many software developers like...

It takes much longer to get dressed now than it used to. I file the majority of my clothes by designer, plus having misc Shirts/Skirts/Shoes folders. I used to be able to put stuff on at glance by seeing which icon it had, but now I have to read carefully what it says, and often can't tell the difference between shirts/undershirts/jackets which can be embarrassing in public not to mention time consuming !

I really *really* hope this is one day reverted back to the old system, which was much easier to navigate around.

it's hard in bought outfits that have several skirts or several shirts, and long names, since you can't id by icon... and the no-copy on most and no-mod on some makes making a new outfit a problem.

Tryed editing a Jacket - but not only DIDN'T change it to a "Jacket Icon" but renamed it to "New Jacket" - so why is it renaming it if you click the ""SAVE"" botton?

And heres another one -- you try to move an item from one folder to a different folder the Inventory pops you to the bottom and makes to scroll back up "AGAIN" :(

for what it's worth i checked this out and when i make new clothing items they all have the right icon whether they're in an outfit or not. i dunno where this problem is coming from but it's not happening to me.

also my inventory doesn't do anything weird when i drag things around. it seems to work fine.

The problem (bug) is whem you buy a full set of cloths from a vender and it puts it in your inventory as a folder of the items you just bought - t-shirt, shirt, jacket, underwear, pants, ETC -- the "icons" all appear as "shirt icons".

The next time you buy a set of cloths, see if there all the same shirt icons -- alot of people are finding the same thing in their Inventorys too.

Bought a pair of "pants" yesterday - took it out of the box and the "pants icon" was fine. bought a "jacket" where by it greated its own folder and by golly the "JACKET" had a "SHIRT ICON". So its the venders that give the items and put it in your inventory as a folder it where the "BUG" is :( Sure like to see this "shirt icon" thingy fixed.

P.S. >> Any Lindens wanna get in on this post and comment on whats going on??
