Quicktime issues since the last patch

I've been having some computer issues regarding SL and quicktime, every time I've gone to watch a movie since the last patch there has been issues with the audio, my mate is also getting these problems and since then, a few of my friends have reported this issue as well.

You start any streamed quicktime movie, the sound will play fine for about five seconds, start stuttering and rolling up on itself, and then go mute... the movie continues to play, smooth as butter... just no sound.

I've seen this problem in beach bum's theater, in furnations drive through, and in the cinaplex, and just about anywhere else I go to try and watch a video. My friends get the exact same thing, as avid secondlife movie patrons, the only thing we have in common between our systems is

1.) the patch
2.) the issue.

My system is a 3.2 gig processor, X850XT, 2 gig ram duel harddrive monster with 96 Mbps, my mate and my friends systems run the entire gamit of high end to low, and they get the issues too.

I've re-installed SL, I've re-installed quicktime, I've flashed the bios, I've updated my sound card, I've updated my video card, I've done error checking in the admin tools, I've gone as far as messing with quicktime codecs and overiding quality controls, and playing with my bandwidth settings in SL. I've basically done everything I can possibly think of to discover what the hell is going on!

Can anyone at all help, please?

I've been having problems ever since I updated QuickTime, all audio for quicktime files in the QT player have no audio, however if I load up the QT video in WMP or VideoLan it works fine. I'm about ready to try removing QT all together and trying QuickTime Alternative to see if that fixes things.

Did you try updating/reinstalling quicktime?

Bumping a thread in general is Taboo. Moving thread to technical support (where it is also taboo to bump a thread).

Yes I have, I have also reinstalled secondlife.

Also I've looked over the TOS and do not see where bumping is considered against them, taboo for people who hate bumps maybe, but I am not going to sit quietly and watch this go without help again, its been a week and a half... and my friends and I are just being told we're SOL because they didn't change anything with quicktime/ SL code interact... but if history teaches much, some code changes have unintended effects or cause exploits bad enough to bring the grid down on a sunday.

Honestly I believe its a QT problem not a SL problem, the QuckTime alternative didn't work either because its just the codecs not the player. :/

I dunno, I mean if quicktime wasn't updated originally (when I had the problem in the patch, before jumping through all these re-install hoops) then the verson didn't chage did it?

I've delved through most of the quicktime menus and settings.. I've had zero luck attempting differnent settings. Then again I've been rather reluctant to play with them too much... perhaps someone who is more of a quicktime expert can help?

Having problem with sound here with quicktime streaming video also... video is smooth and flawless but no sound! i tried downgrading to 6.5.2 and also tried 7.1 but with no luck. Also tried increasing bandwidth and clearing cache... I hope this gets fixed or someone come up with good solutions... i really want to experiment with streaming video (i just got the server for it too! :( )

I have a great gaming pc, but im using onboard audio. Could that be an issue?
The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-K8n Pro
Memory - 2 Gigs corsair XMS
CPU- AMD x2 overclocked to 2.8
HD - 10,000 RPM Western Digital.
Video - Geforce 7800 GT OC

Ive tried reinstalling SL, and quicktime, with no luck.
Any ideas?

It sounds like problems with the data stream, not your hardware.
I assume you can play other stuff in quicktime, outside of SL.

IN SL:
1. Does JUST audio work-with no video? like in a dance club?
2. Have you tried OTHER videos at other locations? (If you've only tried one stream, it may simply have not had the 'STREAM' flags set when it was created. Or, is not coming from a STreaming Server.)

Quicktime has always been borked in one way or another since it was released. If I recall correctly, they had an intern who was a QT guru who added it and is no longer working there, thus, no one knows how it works. My recommendation has always been: don't even bother trying unless you like frustration.

Also I've looked over the TOS and do not see where bumping is considered against them...

Hey,

Video works just fine, and even some movies work ok, just not the good ones. Audio for about 10 seconds, then i hear static, then cuts out completely. I tried updating audio drivers also, no luck. Does it have to be quicktime? Is there another way I can play videos in SL?

Ok so today I went out and bout a 20 dollar Audigy SE. Fixed 3 sound problems I was having. Im assuming my on board audio didnt have enough cache to play audio with a webcam plugged in, or while watching videos in SL.
Thanks for all your help guys, however it was a cache problem.
